ABC introduced Ellis as a 30-year-old day trader from Houston, Texas. His public biography also includes a substantial basketball background: he played in high school, at the college level, and overseas professionally. That history supports describing him as a former basketball player, but not as an NBA player. No reliable source reviewed for this profile establishes an NBA career.
Ellis became the Bachelor after reaching the final five men on Tran’s season. He was eliminated shortly before the hometown-dates stage, then was announced as the franchise’s next lead.
Grant Ellis’s early life and family background
Ellis grew up in Newark, New Jersey. According to an ESPN profile, his father introduced him to basketball when Ellis was about eight years old. The sport became a major part of his education, development, and daily routine.
Ellis has described basketball as an outlet during a tense period in his family life and as a source of discipline. He said he spent much of his youth training and did not focus heavily on romantic relationships because he “lived, ate and breathed basketball,” as reported by ESPN. That is Ellis’s account of his upbringing and priorities, rather than an independently established explanation of his personality.

He later moved to Houston to be closer to his grandmother, who had Parkinson’s disease. The family connection helps explain why Houston became the location associated with his adult life and ABC biography.
Did Grant Ellis play basketball professionally?
Yes. The available reporting describes Ellis as having played basketball at the high-school, Division I college, and overseas professional levels. The sport also helped pay for his education.

Public college-statistics listings identify Ellis as a guard from Newark and associate him with Hudson Catholic, Iona, and Southern. However, portions of his college and post-college basketball history are inconsistent across public databases. For that reason, it is more accurate to summarize his background broadly than to present an unverified team-by-team career timeline.
There is no reliable evidence in the sources reviewed that Ellis played in the NBA. “Former basketball player” or “overseas professional basketball player” is a safer description than implying that he had an NBA career.

The two finalists were Juliana Pasquarosa and Litia Garr. Ellis ultimately proposed to Pasquarosa during the March 24, 2025 finale, making her the season’s winner and Garr the runner-up.
The finale attracted attention because Ellis appeared conflicted between the two finalists. Garr later criticized aspects of how the relationship and breakup process were handled. A neutral account should identify those comments as Garr’s perspective and describe the episode as emotionally tense, rather than asserting that Ellis intentionally misled her without stronger evidence.
Who did Grant Ellis choose?
Grant Ellis chose Juliana Pasquarosa at the end of season 29. He proposed to her in the finale, which aired on March 24, 2025. Litia Garr was the runner-up.
Are Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa still together?
No. Ellis and Pasquarosa ended their engagement in June 2025, about three months after the finale was broadcast.
During an Instagram Live, Ellis said the breakup was mutual and specifically rejected the idea that he had unilaterally ended the relationship. In an August 18, 2025 interview, Pasquarosa also described the separation as something that ultimately made sense for both of them and said she wished Ellis well.
Pasquarosa later discussed difficulties that followed the finale’s broadcast. Those later comments describe her experience and should be attributed to her rather than presented as an independently proven account of Ellis’s conduct.

ABC identified Ellis as 30 years old when he joined Jenn Tran’s season in 2024. Some secondary databases list December 15, 1993, as his birth date, but that date was not confirmed in the official ABC or Bachelor Nation biographies reviewed for this article.
Because of that discrepancy, a precise current age should not be stated as definitive without a stronger primary source. The official casting-era description—30 years old in 2024—is the more defensible formulation.
Where can viewers watch Grant Ellis’s season?
ABC’s official The Bachelor season 29 page provides information and episode access, while Prime Video has listed the season for digital purchase. Availability can vary by country, platform, subscription, and date, so viewers should check the current listing in their region before purchasing or subscribing.
For a watch party, a The Bachelor bingo game book can work as a franchise-themed activity or gift. It is a general Bachelor companion product—not an official Grant Ellis product—and its trivia coverage predates season 29. Fans looking for themed accessories can also browse official Bachelor Nation merchandise, including rose-themed drinkware, mugs, apparel, and other watch-party gifts. Neither type of product should be treated as a personal endorsement by Ellis.
