Dominik Mysterio’s real-life father is Rey Mysterio. Eddie Guerrero’s claim to be Dominik’s father belonged to a fictional WWE storyline in 2005—not to real life. The storyline became so memorable that Dominik says classmates, teachers and other people continued asking him which wrestler was his dad.
Why do people ask whether Eddie Guerrero was Dominik’s father?
In WWE’s 2005 storyline, Guerrero claimed that he was Dominik’s biological father, putting the young Dominik at the center of a feud with Rey. Netflix Tudum describes Rey as Dominik’s real-life father and identifies Guerrero’s paternity claim as part of the storyline: Netflix Tudum’s account of the story.
The angle ended at SummerSlam 2005, where Rey and Guerrero faced off in a custody ladder match. Rey won, resolving the fictional custody dispute on screen; the match was a wrestling storyline, not evidence about Dominik’s real-world parentage. Fightful’s report on Rey’s account of the storyline describes its origins and conclusion.
What has Dominik said about being asked?
Dominik recalled that people at school asked him, “So who really is your dad? Is it Eddie? Is it Rey?” His answer, he said, was: “Well, it’s Rey.” He also remembered teachers asking and said years later, “Still to this day, people are like, ‘So who really is your dad?’” These remarks were reported by Fightful in March 2020.

That recollection explains why the question persists: a dramatic WWE plot followed Dominik into everyday conversations. It does not mean there is a real-life mystery about his father.
Do Dominik’s later jokes change the answer?
No. Dominik made an Eddie-related paternity joke in a 2024 interview, but the report notes that most of the interview was in character and cautions against treating the remarks as serious. Wrestling Inc.’s report on the interview presents it in that context. A character joke is not a factual claim about parentage.
