Ashby is Ashby Florence, the TikTok creator known for comedic performances as Alexander Hamilton, the Lorax and other characters. Her breakout came in August 2025, when a DIY Hamilton lip-sync drew millions of views and rapid follower growth, according to a contemporaneous Betches interview.
Who is Ashby?
Ashby Florence is a TikTok performer whose videos turn familiar characters into comic, improvised performances. Her account is @_ashbyflorence_. In addition to Alexander Hamilton and the Lorax, she has portrayed other characters; the appeal is less a single scripted sketch than the way she inhabits a role and keeps it going.

Florence has described herself as having a theater background. In a 2025 interview with Betches, she said audience enthusiasm for her first Hamilton interpretation encouraged her to create more variations: “I saw how people liked my interpretation and, as a theater kid, wanted to give every variation I could think of.”
How did Ashby go viral?
Betches reported that Florence posted her DIY Hamilton lip-sync on August 1, 2025. In its August 21, 2025 feature, the publication said the video had more than 22.4 million views and that her following had risen from 10,000 to one million in ten days. The same article listed her at 2.4 million TikTok followers. These are figures reported at that time, not a current follower count.

The video’s breakout became a springboard for further Hamilton performances. Florence told Betches that her theater experience and viewers’ response led her to explore more variations on the character, rather than treating the first viral clip as a one-off.
Why does she dress as the Lorax?
The Lorax is one of Florence’s best-known comic characters. A 2025 profile by Creative Collaboration describes the costume as an orange spandex jumpsuit paired with an oversized fake yellow mustache. The same profile records her catchphrases “I’m baaaashful” and “I’m joooking.”

Florence told Betches she chose the Lorax for its visual comic potential: “Purely because it is a funny visual, I try not to put too much thought into my characters in terms of which ones I do.” She has also said that sustaining improvisation during a performance takes concentration: “Performance-wise, it’s shocking how it takes a lot of brain power to improvise on the spot for that long.”
What happened with Ashby’s merch?
In an October 2025 case study, merch platform Fourthwall said Florence announced a store during a livestream on September 16, 2025. According to the company, she initially treated the reveal as a joke, then invited viewers to suggest products and contribute ideas for designs during the stream.

In a 2025 interview with Liza Banks, Florence reflected on why livestreams can connect with viewers, saying, “I think people want to see people not care.” That comment fits the spontaneous, loose quality she has described in her character performances, but it is her perspective rather than a claim about every viewer.
