Jayce Talis’s romantic partner in Arcane is Mel Medarda, a member of Piltover’s council. Their relationship is established in season one, and it is tied closely to the politics of the city and to the Hextech work that drives the story.
Who Jayce is involved with
Mel Medarda is the character Jayce is romantically involved with. Netflix’s season one ending recap places Mel in the story as a Piltover council member who sees the promise in Jayce’s research. A secondary character reference, the Arcane Wiki page on Mel Medarda on Fandom, describes her as Jayce’s former lover. That label is useful corroboration, but it comes from a fan-run wiki rather than from the show’s creators, so it should be read as the wiki’s description of the on-screen relationship.

How the relationship sits inside Piltover politics
The romance cannot be separated from the city around it. Mel’s role on the council gives her influence over Jayce’s work, and the recap describes her as believing his research could transform Piltover. As tensions rise between Piltover and Zaun, the recap says she urges Jayce and Viktor to build Hextech-powered weapons to defend the city.
That combination of personal closeness and public ambition is the reason viewers debate her motives. The show places the two in a relationship where affection, career, and civic duty overlap, and the official material does not settle which one drives her choices.
#1 Best Overall
Jayce and Viktor: a different kind of bond
Viktor is Jayce’s close scientific collaborator, not his romantic partner. Netflix’s official character overview for League of Legends champions in seasons one and two describes Viktor working with Jayce to advance their Hextech invention. Keeping the two relationships separate avoids a common mistake: the story’s central partnership is professional and creative, while the romance is with Mel.
Fan readings that place Jayce and Viktor in a romantic relationship are not established in the official material and should be treated as fan interpretation.
Rank #2
Mel’s family and why her storyline is larger than romance
Mel is the daughter of Ambessa Medarda. Netflix’s character overview notes that Ambessa advises Jayce on matters of war while pursuing an agenda of her own. That family context explains why Mel’s arc involves more than her relationship with Jayce, but it does not show that her feelings for him are false or purely strategic.
