Dan dies before the tower climb. Hunter dies during the attempt to retrieve the backpack, and the Hunter Becky speaks with afterward is a hallucination. Becky survives: she reaches the lower dish, gets an SOS to her father using Hunter’s phone and body, and is rescued.
What happens on the tower
Fall follows Becky Connor and her friend Shiloh Hunter as they climb a remote radio tower. The climb is tied to Becky’s grief after her husband Dan’s death. Lionsgate’s 2022 publicity synopsis describes the women as trapped on a tower 2,000 feet high; that is the film’s stated premise, not an independently measured specification.

When their supplies fall onto a lower communications dish, Hunter tries to retrieve the backpack. She falls onto the dish and dies. Becky later believes Hunter has returned to the top, so she continues to talk and make plans with her friend. The reveal is that those later conversations are hallucinations: Becky has been alone since Hunter’s fall.
How Becky gets rescued
After realizing Hunter is dead, Becky makes a plan by herself. She descends to the dish, puts a message for her father in a phone, and places it inside Hunter’s shoe and body. She pushes the body down so the message can get through. Her father, James, receives it and help is sent. Becky survives and reunites with him.

What the hallucination and confession add to the ending
Becky’s imagined conversations
A reasonable reading is that isolation and the physical and emotional strain of the ordeal shape Becky’s imagined conversations with Hunter. The reveal forces Becky to act without the companion she thought was helping her. This is an interpretation of the film’s ending, not a confirmed explanation from its director.
Hunter’s confession about Dan
Hunter tells Becky that she and Dan had an affair before Dan married Becky. The confession complicates the women’s friendship and Becky’s grief, but it is separate from the physical cause of Hunter’s death: she dies in the fall onto the dish while trying to recover the backpack.
