What does Barbara Bush do?
The George W. Bush Presidential Center identifies Barbara as the NBA’s Vice President, Social Impact, leading work around health equity, civic engagement, and social justice. It also lists her as a co-founder and board member of Global Health Corps, a nonprofit focused on health equity and leadership.
In a 2023 report, the Associated Press said Barbara had been promoted to lead the NBA’s social-responsibility department. NBA executive Kathy Behrens, the league’s president of social responsibility and player programs, said: “The fact that Barbara has the family name that she does was of no bearing during the process.” That report describes the promotion at the time; the Center’s profile is the more current source for her listed title.

In reflections published by the Library of Congress National Book Festival Gazette on October 2, 2020, Jenna described how public attention can flatten people into family labels: “I think so often we are compartmentalized into a headline or ‘the daughter of.’ All of us are not always explored as our full being.” She added: “No matter who our parents are, we have to explore who we are on our own — what we believe, what we stand for, how we will use our voice.”
Rank #3
The sisters share a family history and writing projects, but their public work has taken different directions: Barbara’s listed roles center on social impact and nonprofit leadership, while Jenna’s center on broadcasting and books.
