The video featuring Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” was posted by the official White House TikTok account—not by Donald Trump’s personal account. Reported in early November 2025, the 22-second clip paired the song with images of Trump and administration figures and carried the caption “OUR VIBES.” A White House spokesperson said the post was made in expectation that news outlets would amplify it.
What was in the video?
TheWrap reported on November 4, 2025, that the White House had uploaded the clip to its official TikTok account on Monday. The 22-second video used “The Fate of Ophelia” as its soundtrack and showed Trump and administration figures. Its caption was “OUR VIBES.” TheWrap’s report described the post; Variety’s November 5 account also identified the White House account and characterized the post as patriotic.

Why did the White House post it?
A White House spokesperson told TheWrap: “We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like The Wrap would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played.” Variety published a similar version of the comment directed at its own outlet: “We made this video because we knew fake news media brands like Variety would breathlessly amplify them. Congrats, you got played.” In both accounts, the spokesperson framed the post as something the office expected media outlets to publicize.
Was the song still available on TikTok?
Reports about the soundtrack’s later availability differ and should be read as dated observations, not as a live status check. On August 9, 2026, Variety reported that the White House video still had the audio. The National reported that the song had become unavailable on Trump-related political accounts. These reports do not establish whether the original clip plays with the song today.

What is established about Taylor Swift’s involvement?
The cited coverage establishes that the White House TikTok used the song; it does not establish whether Swift or her representatives authorized the use, or determine its legal status. TheWrap reported that Swift’s representatives had not immediately responded to its request for comment on November 4, 2025. Reuters later reported no immediate response from the White House or Swift’s representative to its requests. Those were reports about responses at the time, not proof that no response was ever made. Reuters identified “The Fate of Ophelia” as a song from The Life of a Showgirl in its August 9, 2026 account of the earlier post: Reuters.
