See the White House Correspondents’ Dinner red carpet photos from the rescheduled event on July 24, 2026, at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, D.C. The date matters: the original dinner on April 25 was interrupted by gunfire, so images from the two events should not be treated as one gallery.

This was the second 2026 dinner date. On June 2, White House Correspondents’ Association President Weijia Jiang announced that the event would return on July 24 with “significantly enhanced safety measures and new access procedures.” She also described it as a more intimate gathering. The WHCA, not the White House, organizes the dinner.
April 25, 2026: a separate red carpet
The original dinner took place at the Washington Hilton on April 25 and was cut short after a gunman interrupted the event. The Reuters Connect listing identifies a red-carpet photo of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and Nicholas Riccio at that April 25 event. Reuters credits photographer Elizabeth Frantz.

Reuters marks the image as licensable. A credit line alone does not grant permission to reuse it: check Reuters Connect’s current licensing terms before publishing or distributing the photograph.
How to identify and use the photos
Check the event date and credit before sharing or republishing an image. The two available references document different dinners and different photographers:
| Event | Location | Photo source and credit | Reuse information |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 25, 2026, original dinner | Washington Hilton, Washington, D.C. | Reuters Connect listing; Elizabeth Frantz | Reuters lists the image as licensable; verify current terms with Reuters. |
| July 24, 2026, rescheduled dinner | Waldorf Astoria, Washington, D.C. | Official White House gallery; Daniel Torok | Reuse terms are not stated in the gallery reference; check the applicable terms before republication. |
What the dinner represents
The WHCA describes the dinner as a celebration of the First Amendment and journalism. Its archive traces the tradition to May 7, 1921, when 50 men gathered for the first dinner. The Association says proceeds support scholarships for aspiring journalists and awards recognizing excellence in the profession.
The red carpet has become a visible part of a gathering that can bring together journalists, political staffers, business leaders and celebrities; the guest mix varies. The 2026 rescheduling also makes clear why captions should identify the event date rather than simply label an image “the 2026 dinner.”
