Peacock’s post-broadcast recap confirms several former hosts in specific segments; a separate pre-show guest list named additional expected guests, but does not establish where—or whether—each appeared.
Former hosts confirmed in the special’s segments
Peacock’s February 18 recap names these former hosts in particular parts of the broadcast:
| Former host | Confirmed segment |
|---|---|
| Steve Martin and John Mulaney | Opening monologue |
| Pedro Pascal and Woody Harrelson | “Close Encounter 50th” |
| Ayo Edebiri, Jimmy Fallon, and Robert De Niro | “Debbie Downer: Bar” |
| Tom Hanks | Introduced “In Memoriam” |
| Martin Short | Closing goodnights |
These are segment-level confirmations, rather than a general advance guest list. Peacock’s recap also names returning cast members and other sketch participants; appearing in the special does not by itself mean someone was a former host.
Other former hosts named in the advance guest list
In a February 16, 2025 preview, Forbes also listed Adam Driver, Bad Bunny, Dave Chappelle, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, and Scarlett Johansson among expected celebrity guests. Forbes’ list included the confirmed names above as well. Treat these additional names as preview information: that article is not a segment-by-segment record of who appeared.
Forbes’ preview also named Paul Simon, who had hosted the show five times according to the article. Forbes distinguished him from Paul McCartney and Sabrina Carpenter, whom it identified as guests who had not hosted. Musical performance or celebrity attendance should not be confused with hosting.
Hosting history behind some familiar faces
Forbes reported these hosting totals in its 2025 article. They are figures as published then, not a current recalculation.

|---|---|
| Steve Martin | 16 |
| Tom Hanks | 10 |
| John Mulaney | 6 |
| Scarlett Johansson | 6 |
| Paul Simon | 5 |

| Dave Chappelle | 4 |
| Adam Driver | 4 |
| Robert De Niro | 3 |
