The film is Anyone But You (2023), a romantic comedy starring Sydney Sweeney as Bea and Glen Powell as Ben. They meet again at a destination wedding in Australia and pretend to be a couple. It is rated R—not classified as “adults-only.”
What is Anyone But You about?
After a promising first date turns sour, Bea and Ben cross paths again at an Australian destination wedding. They decide to pose as a couple. Sony’s official synopsis puts it this way: “So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.” Sony Pictures’ film page identifies Sweeney as Bea and Powell as Ben.
Is it an adults-only film?
Not according to the classification cited here. Netflix Tudum lists Anyone But You as rated R and gives its runtime as 1 hour 43 minutes. “Adults-only” is not the rating shown by that source, so it is not an accurate substitute for the film’s stated classification.
Is the movie based on Shakespeare?
Anyone But You reworks Shakespeare’s comedy Much Ado About Nothing as a contemporary romantic comedy. Time describes it as a contemporary adaptation; in an interview featured by Paramount Press Express, Powell credits Sweeney with the idea of turning the play into a rom-com.
