What Space City Home Network is
SCHN is the regional sports network associated with the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets. It is their local television home for eligible viewers and also carries original, behind-the-scenes, collegiate, high-school and other regional programming. “Watching SCHN” can mean the linear television channel, a live-TV streaming bundle that carries it, or the SCHN+ app and website. The network describes its role in its viewer FAQ; the Rockets also announced the network’s ownership and local role in their SCHN announcement.

- Open SCHN+ or the SCHN+ app.
- Use the service’s location check to confirm that your ZIP code is in the eligible market.
- Choose the monthly ($19.99) or annual ($199.99) plan listed by SCHN+ support.
- Create or sign in to your SCHN+ account and use it on a supported device.
SCHN+ launched as a direct-to-consumer and TV Everywhere service in December 2025. Direct subscriptions are intended for in-market users; the subscription instructions provide the current signup flow.

Authenticate through a TV provider
If you already pay for SCHN through a participating provider, try provider authentication before purchasing a separate plan. SCHN lists DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, U-verse, Fubo and I-Net among participating providers. Use the username and password for that television service, not a separate SCHN+ subscription login. Watch through DIRECTV Stream, Fubo or a traditional provider
DIRECTV Stream
DIRECTV’s published lineup lists SCHN at channel 674 and says regional sports networks are ZIP-code based. DIRECTV Stream is a complete live-TV subscription, not a SCHN-only purchase, so it suits households that also want other sports, news and entertainment channels. Package eligibility, offers and blackouts can change; check the official lineup and signup page.
Fubo
SCHN identifies Fubo as an OTT/live-TV provider carrying the network in the region. Enter your ZIP code at Fubo, verify that Space City Home Network appears in the current package, and compare the total bundle cost with SCHN+ before subscribing. Fubo access is paid authentication, not free SCHN access.

Cable and satellite
DIRECTV satellite, U-verse, Xfinity, Astound and participating local systems may carry SCHN. A provider can carry the network in one ZIP code but not another, so use the channel finder or your provider’s local lineup.

Where SCHN is available
SCHN’s primary broadcast territory is Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma, plus these New Mexico counties: Doña Ana, Eddy, Lea, Chaves, Roosevelt, Curry, Quay, Union and De Baca. This is a general territory description, not a guarantee for every address. Enter your ZIP code in the official finder; SCHN’s in-market guidance explains the distinction. Being near Houston or somewhere in one of those states is not enough by itself.

- Enable location access and verify the account’s home location.
- Play a stream successfully before leaving.
- Do not assume a hotel TV, borrowed device or new laptop will be authorized automatically.

Why a game may not be showing
The game is on another network
Not every Astros or Rockets game is a SCHN game. Rockets broadcasts can be exclusive to national outlets; SCHN’s 2025–26 schedule information says it carries preseason games and regular-season games not exclusive to national television. Check the Rockets schedule or the Astros’ How to Watch page for the specific matchup.
Blackout or rights restriction
SCHN+ states that some events may be unavailable because of location or league rights. A subscription is not an all-platform pass for every game. Review the blackout guidance.
Location error
- Check your address in the ZIP-code finder.
- Enable location services; on mobile, connect to your home Wi-Fi and reopen SCHN+.
- In the app, use Account > Location > Change Home Location.
- A VPN or workplace network can appear outside the market; disable it and retry. See location troubleshooting.
- Starlink IP geolocation can misplace an eligible home; authenticate first with a GPS-enabled mobile device on the Starlink network, following Starlink support.
Overlapping programming
When Astros and Rockets coverage conflicts, check SCHN’s alternate feed and your provider’s alternate channel listing.

- Existing SCHN customer: Authenticate with your current provider before paying again.
- Sports-heavy household: Compare DIRECTV Stream and Fubo lineups by ZIP code.
- Traditional-TV household: Use the linear SCHN channel and check the alternate feed.
- Traveler: Activate every intended device at home and treat the 30-day access as temporary.
- Out-of-market fan: SCHN+ may not accept a new subscription; check the location tool and the applicable league’s authorized options.

If your ZIP code is eligible and you mainly want local Astros and Rockets programming, SCHN+ is the most direct route. If you already receive SCHN from a participating provider, authenticate first.
