For the 2026 Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks, the official viewing area was along the lower East River, with sightlines from parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The organizer has not confirmed where to watch the 2027 show; its post-event page says to check back in spring for viewing details. Treat the locations below as a 2026 planning reference, not a promise they will return.
Where could you watch the 2026 NYC fireworks?
Macy’s said the fireworks would be visible from Manhattan and Brooklyn where viewers had an unobstructed view of the sky above the lower East River. Its 2026 viewing guide separated non-ticketed FDR Drive access points from designated waterfront areas that required free tickets issued by New York City.
Non-ticketed FDR Drive access points
The organizer listed four Manhattan access points for FDR Drive viewing:
- Montgomery Street at Madison Street
- Robert Wagner Place at the Brooklyn Bridge off-ramp
- Robert Wagner Place at the Brooklyn Bridge on-ramp
- Broad Street at Water Street
“Non-ticketed” describes the listed access type; it does not guarantee entry or an unobstructed view. Officials said screening would be in place, and crowds were expected. Capacity and entry arrangements can change.

Free-ticket waterfront locations
The 2026 guide listed these viewing areas as accessible only with free tickets issued by New York City:
- Piers within The Seaport, Manhattan
- Brooklyn Bridge Park, Brooklyn
- Brooklyn Heights Promenade, Brooklyn
The city’s June 26, 2026 announcement said a lottery for 100,000 free tickets ran through June 29, with winners able to claim up to four tickets. Those dates have passed; they do not establish the process or ticket availability for 2027. Macy’s says it does not sell VIP viewing tickets or endorse third-party sales of viewing access.

Accessible viewing locations in Manhattan
Macy’s listed two designated ADA viewing locations in Manhattan, with these access points:
- NYC Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza: east side of Water Street at Coenties Slip.
- Pier 35: Cherry Street and Rutgers Slip.
Check the official guidance for the relevant year before traveling, since entry details and locations may change. The Macy’s guide also listed an ADA viewing point at 70 Hudson Street in Jersey City; that is across the Hudson River, not in New York City.

Where the 2026 guide said not to watch
Macy’s listed the following places as locations where the 2026 fireworks were not visible and did not recommend for viewing:
- The Battery and Battery Park City
- Hudson River Park and Riverside Park South
- East River Park
- Hunter’s Point South Waterfront Park and Gantry Plaza State Park
- Roosevelt Island and Governors Island
- The Staten Island Ferry
These are 2026 sightline warnings, not a universal rule for every year’s show. The display location and official viewing advice can change.

Plan for entry, transit, and restrictions
Use the event-year transit guidance
Macy’s recommended public transportation, said subway service would be increased before and after the 2026 display, and warned of bus reroutes and no public parking near access points. The city’s July 1, 2026 briefing said FDR viewing areas would open at 6 p.m., fireworks would start at 9:25 p.m., and the FDR would close from East Houston to the Battery Park Underpass at 3 p.m. Those are event-specific 2026 hours, not a schedule to rely on in a later year.
Expect screening and pack light
The 2026 NYC prohibited-items list included alcohol, backpacks, blankets, cigarettes, drones, duffle bags, e-cigarettes, large bags, large coolers, large packages, lawn chairs, motorized scooters, umbrellas, and weapons. Spectators were subject to NYPD search, and viewing locations could change. Macy’s suggested a refillable water bottle; it said water-refill stations might be available near some entry points. Check the current official rules before setting out.

What to check before going in 2027
Macy’s post-event page says it is planning the 2027 show and asks visitors to check back in spring for where-to-watch details. Until that guidance is published, the 2026 list is useful for understanding the likely geography—not for choosing a confirmed 2027 entrance, ticket, or transit plan. Use the organizer’s 2027 status page and the city’s event announcements for current locations, access rules, ticketing, timing, and street closures.
