Liz Lee, the central figure in MTV’s My Life as Liz, later described a difficult period involving drug use, living in her car and going to rehab. In a July 2025 report, she also spoke about a yearslong sobriety journey. The available sources place her at art school in 2011 but do not establish her current occupation.

Who was Liz Lee on My Life as Liz?

Lee starred as herself in MTV’s My Life as Liz, which ran from 2010 to 2011. Its first season followed her move from Texas to art school in New York. The show was presented in a stylized format rather than as an entirely unmediated account of everyday life.

A 2010 Los Angeles Times report described the series as “quasi-reality”: it used real people and settings, while dramatizing aspects of their lives. MTV executive vice president Dave Sirulnick said it was not simply a reality show, but also not a sitcom. That context matters when recalling the events depicted on screen: the program blended documentary-style material with constructed storytelling.

What did Liz Lee say happened after the show?

In a July 15, 2025 TikTok video, Lee spoke about what followed her television fame. E! News reported on July 25 that she described spending her show paychecks on drugs, later living in her car, and going to rehab. Lee said: “I had my own TV show and then I spent all my money on drugs, and then I ended up living in my car, and then I ended up going to rehab.”

The report also relayed her description of a sobriety journey lasting years. These are details Lee shared about her own life, as reported by E! News; they should be understood as her account, not as independently verified medical information.

What is known about her life and career now?

A February 2011 interview with Seventeen described Lee as a sophomore at Pratt Institute in New York. That is a snapshot from shortly after the series began, not evidence of her present-day studies or work. The sources available here do not establish what occupation Lee has now, so a more specific claim about her current career would be unsupported.
