Public reporting places Eminem’s primary residence in Clinton Township, Michigan, in the Detroit metropolitan area. Architectural Digest identified it as his primary home in April 2025, and a July 2026 update from Velvet Ropes reported the same location. The often-mentioned mansion in Oakland Township was a separate property that he sold in 2017—not his current reported residence. No exact address is included here to protect the privacy of a private home.
Where does Eminem live now?
The latest cited coverage places Eminem, whose legal name is Marshall Mathers, in Clinton Township, a suburb in Metro Detroit. Architectural Digest’s 2025 account identifies the home as his primary residence and reports that he bought it in September 2000 for a little under $1.5 million. Velvet Ropes’ July 2026 update also places him in Clinton Township. These are published reports, not an independent confirmation of current property records.

Eminem’s Michigan homes, by place and period
| Location | Period and reported role | Reported details |
|---|---|---|
| Detroit | Childhood home | Architectural Digest describes a 767-square-foot, two-bedroom brick house associated with the cover of The Marshall Mathers LP. It reports that fire damage left the structure unsound and that it was demolished in 2013. |
| Sterling Heights | Reported family home, 1999–2001 | Architectural Digest reports that Eminem and Kim Scott bought a nearly 5,000-square-foot house for $450,000 in summer 1999 and sold it for $475,000 in 2001. |
| Clinton Township | Reported primary residence from September 2000 | Architectural Digest describes a 1996-built home of a little under 9,000 square feet, with four bedrooms and six bathrooms. It reports a purchase price of a little under $1.5 million. |
| Oakland Township | Former mansion, 2003–2017 | Architectural Digest reports a $4.75 million purchase, a size of 17,500 square feet, and a 2017 sale for $1.9 million. The Independent wrote in 2009 that Eminem rarely stayed there and continued to live in Clinton Township. |

What happened to Eminem’s childhood home?
The Detroit house associated with The Marshall Mathers LP cover was demolished in 2013 after fire damage, according to Architectural Digest. The publication also reports that 700 signed bricks from the house were sold as keepsakes in 2016. It describes a 2022 plan by Detroit Hives to turn the lot into a bee sanctuary; that reported plan does not establish the site’s present condition.

The Oakland Township property was a high-profile mansion, but it was not the home that reporting identified as Eminem’s primary residence. Architectural Digest reports that he bought the 17,500-square-foot estate in 2003 and sold it in 2017. The Independent’s 2009 profile separately said he rarely stayed there while continuing to live in Clinton Township. The two locations are separate, and the mansion’s past ownership should not be mistaken for evidence of his current address.
