Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In the United States, The Bridges of Madison County (1995), starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, is currently available to rent or buy digitally—not free with a verified subscription service. Listings checked in August 2026 show rentals from $3.99 through Spectrum On Demand and about $5.99 on major stores; HD digital purchases are about $12.99.

Current U.S. availability

JustWatch’s U.S. listings, checked August 1, 2026, show no free legal streaming option and no clearly verified inclusion with a major subscription plan. Transactional rental, digital purchase, and physical-disc options are available. Check the final checkout screen because prices, taxes, promotions, and catalog rights can change.

For broad storefront coverage, see JustWatch’s U.S. title page. Secondary listings such as Moviefone can help locate stores, but the retailer’s own checkout page is the authority for the amount you will pay.

Is it free or included with a subscription?

No free legal U.S. option was listed in the latest check, and the available listings do not establish inclusion in a major subscription catalog. A title appearing inside Prime Video, Apple TV, or Google’s movie store can still be a pay-per-view transaction.

Is it on Netflix?

It is not currently listed as available on Netflix U.S. in the sources checked for this update. A Netflix tracker records a U.S. removal on January 1, 2023, but that historical date is not proof of permanent unavailability; catalogs change by country and over time. See the tracker’s record at New On Netflix.

Which version should you search for?

Use the full title and year: The Bridges of Madison County (1995). It is the Clint Eastwood film starring Meryl Streep, based on Robert James Waller’s novel. Apple identifies it as a Warner Bros. release rated PG-13 with a runtime of about 2 hours 15 minutes. Other services display 134, 135, or 139 minutes because of metadata differences, not necessarily different cuts. Avoid confusing the film with the novel or stage musical.

Choosing between rental, digital purchase, and discs

Digital rental

Renting is usually the least expensive way to watch once. Spectrum’s $3.99 listing was the lowest observed price, while Google Play and Prime Video showed $5.99 HD rentals. The provider sets the rental period and playback window, so read those terms before confirming.

Digital purchase

An HD purchase was listed at $12.99 on Google Play and Prime Video. “Buy” generally means an account-based license for playback through that retailer, not a transferable video file or guaranteed access on every future device. It can be better value than repeated rentals if you expect to rewatch, but check the store’s device and account rules.

DVD or Blu-ray

Disc copies avoid changing streaming licenses and can suit collectors, gifts, unreliable internet connections, or frequent rewatching. DVD is often less expensive but has lower picture quality; Blu-ray is generally preferable for image quality. Marketplace listings may be new or used and may include different editions, so verify format, seller, condition, shipping, returns, and player compatibility.

Audio, subtitles, and device compatibility

Apple lists English and French audio plus multiple subtitle options, including English closed captions. Language and accessibility choices can differ by retailer, territory, and device, so open the provider’s playback-details panel before renting or buying. Google Play states that the film can be watched in a web browser or on supported devices; Amazon, Apple, Google, and cable-provider apps have different smart-TV, phone, tablet, browser, and streaming-device support.

How to watch without a wrong listing

  1. Confirm that the result says The Bridges of Madison County (1995), not the book or another adaptation.
  2. Set the storefront to the United States; availability differs internationally.
  3. Compare Spectrum On Demand if you already have access, then check Google Play, Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango At Home.
  4. Before checkout, confirm HD versus SD, rental expiration, subtitles and audio, supported devices, and whether the charge is separate from any subscription.
  5. If you plan multiple viewings, compare the digital purchase with a DVD or Blu-ray listing.

If a listing does not work

  • Search the complete title together with “1995.”
  • Use the provider’s website instead of relying only on an app’s search results.
  • Check that a Prime Video result is a rental or purchase rather than Prime-included playback.
  • Compare the final checkout amount; aggregator prices can become stale or reflect a different edition.
  • Try another listed retailer if one title page is unavailable.
  • Use JustWatch’s availability-notification feature if you are waiting for a free or subscription option.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
