The original Scary Movie cast followed very different paths after the 2000 horror comedy: Anna Faris and Regina Hall built long screen careers, while Marlon and Shawn Wayans continued working in comedy and writing. All four were reported as returning for the 2026 installment, alongside several supporting cast members. Here’s what selected original cast members did after the first film—and what is known about the reunion.
First, which Scary Movie?
This is the cast of the original Scary Movie, released in 2000—not the later franchise installments. Miramax credits Keenen Ivory Wayans as director and lists Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, and other collaborators among the writers. Its starring cast includes Marlon Wayans, Jon Abrahams, Carmen Electra, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall; Shawn Wayans, Shannon Elizabeth, and Lochlyn Munro also appeared in the film. Miramax’s film page provides the official film and credit information.
The four leads: where are they now?
Anna Faris (Cindy Campbell)
After playing Cindy, Faris continued in film and television comedy. Selected later credits include Waiting…, Just Friends, and The House Bunny, followed by the sitcom Mom. These are highlights rather than a full account of her career. Parade reported that she returned for the 2026 installment. At its premiere, she told TheWrap, “I feel like I can finally thank Keenen Ivory Wayans, properly.” Parade’s cast update and TheWrap’s June 4, 2026 report cover those developments.
Regina Hall (Brenda Meeks)
Hall went on to a broad range of film and television work. Selected projects cited by Parade include Girls Trip, Law Abiding Citizen, Black Monday, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Best Man: The Final Chapters. Parade and TheWrap reported her return for the 2026 film; these titles represent only a selection of her subsequent work.
