ABC News reported in 2011 that Lori Broady had gone eight months without using a blow dryer in bed after starting therapy. The Cinemaholic later reported that participant Toby Sheldon (Tobias Strebel) died in 2015. A February 2026 report gave a more recent, partial update on Jayden. These accounts do not establish how every participant is doing today.
What happened to Lori Broady?
In a June 2011 interview, ABC News reported that Broady had started therapy after appearing on the series and said she had stopped using a blow dryer in bed for eight months. She described the device’s warmth and white noise as comforting and said she had substituted a heater by her bed.

That was Broady’s own account at the time, not a current status update. Her story is a reminder that an episode’s premise does not by itself tell viewers what happened afterward.
Did anyone from My Strange Addiction die?
The Cinemaholic’s retrospective reported that Toby Sheldon, also known as Tobias Strebel, died in 2015. The outlet said authorities attributed his death to multiple drug intoxication and considered the overdose likely accidental. This account is secondary reporting; it should not be read as proof that his participation in the series caused his death.

The available reporting does not establish a complete death count for the show’s participants. It would be misleading to infer how common any outcome was from this individual report.
What are later follow-ups saying about other participants?
Jayden: a specific, partial change
In a February 14, 2026 report, The Ashley’s Reality Roundup relayed an update posted by TLC: Jayden said she had stopped eating hot glue sticks, but continued chewing some items, including bottle caps or wood, without swallowing them. This is a dated account of a change in one behavior, not evidence that every related behavior stopped.

A series revisits past participants
Apple TV’s Norway-region catalog listing identifies My Strange Addiction: Still Addicted? as a 2023 TLC series revisiting past participants. Its episode descriptions include Lori Broady, Lauren Powers, and Lacey Wildd. The listing confirms a follow-up series in that catalog, but does not establish current streaming availability elsewhere or the present status of everyone featured.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can—and can’t—be concluded?
The documented accounts differ in date and source: Broady spoke directly to ABC News in 2011; Sheldon’s reported death appears here through a later retrospective; and Jayden’s 2026 update was relayed by a reality-TV outlet from a TLC post. None amounts to a comprehensive accounting of the cast.
ABC News’ 2011 coverage also framed treatment as an individual, compassionate process. Michael Dow, a psychotherapist, author, and addiction expert quoted in the article, described therapists treating a person with compassion. That context is more useful than treating unusual behavior as a punchline or assuming a participant’s life can be summed up by an episode.
