In the United States, the most dependable way to watch all five seasons is the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel. The first season is also available through several major services, but the remaining seasons are much less consistently listed.
U.S. availability checked August 9, 2026. Streaming catalogs can change, so use the season names and episode titles below rather than relying only on a platform’s season numbering.
What counts as the original Pokémon anime?
For the purpose of watching the original English-language run, “the original series” means these five seasons:
- Pokémon: Indigo League
- Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands
- Pokémon: The Johto Journeys
- Pokémon: Johto League Champions
- Pokémon: Master Quest
The run ends when Ash, Misty, and Brock leave Johto. Pokémon: Advanced begins the next era, with Ash travelling through Hoenn, so it is not part of this five-season watch-through.
#1 Best Overall
Best overall option: Pokémon TV on YouTube
The official Pokémon TV YouTube channel is currently releasing the classic anime free to watch. Episodes from seasons 1 through 10 are available through the channel, with five new episodes released each week as of August 9, 2026.
This is not the old Pokémon TV app returning. The former Pokémon TV website and app shut down on March 28, 2024, and the Nintendo Switch app began being removed from the eShop on January 8, 2024. The YouTube channel is a separate official distribution outlet.
How to find the five seasons
- Open the verified Pokémon TV channel at @OfficialPokemonTV.
- In YouTube’s search field, enter the season name followed by
FULL EPISODE. For example, searchPokémon Master Quest FULL EPISODE. - Check that the uploader is Pokémon TV, not a fan channel or an unrelated compilation account.
- Confirm the season name in the video title or description.
- Watch the episodes in the numbered order shown in the titles or playlist.
Useful search examples include:
Pokémon I Choose You FULL EPISODEfor the opening episode of Indigo League.Fit to Be Tide Pokémon FULL EPISODEfor an episode from Adventures in the Orange Islands.Don't Touch That 'dile Pokémon FULL EPISODEfor the opening episode of The Johto Journeys.Pokémon Johto League Champions FULL EPISODEfor season 4.Pokémon Master Quest FULL EPISODEfor season 5.
The uploads are arriving gradually, and a season may be spread across several playlists or still be receiving episodes. YouTube search is therefore more useful than assuming the channel homepage is in chronological order.

Where each original season is available in the U.S.
| Season | Official title | U.S. options checked August 9, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Indigo League | Available on Netflix and Disney+. Also available free with ads through The Roku Channel and Tubi TV. Digital purchase listings include Amazon Video and the Apple TV Store. The official Pokémon TV YouTube channel is another option. |
| 2 | Adventures in the Orange Islands | No U.S. subscription or free-streaming listing was found through JustWatch. Use the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel. |
| 3 | The Johto Journeys | No current U.S. streaming, rental, or purchase listing was found through JustWatch. Episodes are appearing on the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel. |
| 4 | Johto League Champions | No current U.S. subscription, rental, or purchase listing was found through JustWatch. Check the official Pokémon TV YouTube uploads. |
| 5 | Master Quest | No current U.S. subscription or purchase listing was found through JustWatch. The official Pokémon TV YouTube rollout is the current practical option, although availability may change as episodes are added or reorganized. |
Why the season counts may look wrong
Streaming services do not divide the early Pokémon anime consistently. A service may group episodes differently from the original U.S. broadcast and home-video structure. For example, JustWatch currently lists 102 episodes under season 1, while the commonly used division places some later Kanto material with the second season.
That means Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV, and third-party guides may show different episode totals or season boundaries. If you want the original watch order, prioritize:
- The official season title.
- The episode title.
- The episode number within that season or playlist.
Do not skip ahead simply because a platform labels an episode “Season 1” or “Season 2.” The platform’s database structure may not match the five-season English-language division used for the original series.
A straightforward complete watch order
For the cleanest run, follow this sequence:
- Indigo League
- Adventures in the Orange Islands
- The Johto Journeys
- Johto League Champions
- Master Quest
You can use Netflix or Disney+ for Indigo League if that is more convenient, then move to the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel for the remaining seasons. Alternatively, use YouTube from the start so that the naming and upload source remain consistent.
What you will not find in one place
No single major U.S. subscription service currently offers all five original seasons together. The first season has the broadest availability, while seasons 2 through 5 are considerably harder to locate through conventional streaming subscriptions or digital stores.

Availability can also differ outside the United States. The services listed here are U.S. checks, not a guarantee for Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or other regions. If you are outside the U.S., search the official Pokémon TV channel first, then check the local versions of major streaming services.

Is the old Pokémon TV app still available?
No. The Pokémon Company ended the Pokémon TV app and service on March 28, 2024. The current official Pokémon TV YouTube channel is a separate distribution channel.
What is the correct order for the original Pokémon anime?
Watch Indigo League, Adventures in the Orange Islands, The Johto Journeys, Johto League Champions, and then Master Quest.
Can I watch all five original seasons on Netflix?
Not as a complete U.S. collection based on the availability checked August 9, 2026. Netflix carries Indigo League, but seasons 2 through 5 do not have the same broad subscription availability.
Best Value
Why does a streaming service show a different number of Pokémon episodes in season 1?
Platforms use different cataloging systems. Some combine or separate early Kanto episodes differently, so season numbers and episode totals may not match the original U.S. division. Use the official season and episode titles to keep the intended order.
The Bottom Line
For a complete U.S. watch-through, start with the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel and follow Indigo League → Adventures in the Orange Islands → The Johto Journeys → Johto League Champions → Master Quest. Netflix and Disney+ are convenient for Indigo League, but no single major U.S. subscription service currently provides all five seasons together.
