Twisters became available for digital ownership in the United States on October 8, 2024. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD release followed on October 22, while Peacock subscription streaming began on November 15. Because rental listings and streaming catalogs vary by platform, there was no single rental date that necessarily applied to every U.S. service.
The U.S. VOD date for Twisters
Twisters arrived for digital ownership in the United States on October 8, 2024. That means viewers could buy a digital copy through participating movie retailers. The film was released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 22, 2024.
There was not one universal U.S. rental date that applied identically to every retailer. Digital storefronts can set their own listings, prices, and availability, so viewers should check the retailer they use before paying. Prime Video’s current listing, for example, displays UHD rental and purchase options, but those details can change.

What “VOD” means for this movie
In this context, video on demand generally refers to a transaction-based digital option:
Recommended Free Tools
#1 Best Overall
- Enjoy Blu-ray Disc movies in Full HD as well as DVD discs
- Upscale your DVDs to near HD quality
- Easy set-up with included HDMI cord
- Boot up in less than a second with super quick start mode
- Keep things simple with the new user-friendly interface
- Digital rental: You pay for temporary access. The retailer’s rules determine how long you have to start watching and how long you can finish after playback begins.
- Digital purchase: You buy a license to watch the movie through that retailer’s service, subject to its account, device, territory, and platform terms.
Neither option is the same as subscription streaming. A subscription service may include the film in its catalog without a separate rental or purchase charge, but that access can end if the service removes the title or changes its terms.
Where could U.S. viewers buy or rent it?
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment identified Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Comcast Xfinity, Cox, and Microsoft Movies & TV among the participating digital retailers for the film’s home release. Movies Anywhere also maintains a Twisters title page with links to participating retailers.
Retail availability, video quality, supported devices, and pricing are not permanent. Before checking out, confirm whether the listing says rent or buy, which audio and video formats are included, and whether the title will play on your television, streaming device, game console, phone, or computer.

Prime Video currently shows Twisters with UHD rental and purchase choices. This should be treated as a current retailer listing rather than a promise that the film is included automatically with an Amazon Prime subscription. A Prime membership does not, by itself, guarantee that every movie displayed on Prime Video is free to watch.

Peacock announced that Twisters would begin streaming exclusively on the service in the United States on November 15, 2024. That was a separate milestone from the October digital-rental and purchase release.
If you are checking where to watch it now, verify Peacock’s live catalog before subscribing or assuming the film is included. Streaming libraries change, and the original launch announcement does not establish that Twisters remains available there indefinitely.

What about the 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD versions?
The physical home release followed the digital ownership date on October 22, 2024. It included 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions, along with bonus material described in Universal’s home-entertainment announcement.
If you would rather own a disc than rent or buy digitally, look for the Twisters 4K UHD Blu-ray; availability and edition details vary by retailer. This is a physical-media alternative, not a VOD rental or digital download, and you should check the exact listing to see what is included. Do not assume that every edition comes with a digital copy.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are these dates valid outside the United States?
No. The dates above are specifically for the United States. Home-entertainment schedules differ by country, and a territory may separate its digital purchase, digital rental, and physical-media dates.
For example, Warner Bros. Japan’s official home-entertainment page records a different schedule for Japanese digital purchase, digital rental, and Blu-ray/DVD availability. U.S. viewers should use the dates above; viewers elsewhere should check the local retailer or distributor rather than treating the U.S. October 8 date as worldwide.
