The Fantastic Four joined Marvel Rivals in Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, which launched January 10, 2025, at 1 a.m. Pacific Time. The season placed the team in a vampire-led crisis: Dracula and Doctor Doom take advantage of Doctor Strange’s disappearance to plunge New York into darkness. The announcement is historical, not a preview of the game’s next season in 2026.
When the Fantastic Four joined Marvel Rivals
Marvel Games and NetEase Games announced Season 1 on January 6, 2025; NetEase’s page is dated January 7. Their announcement said: “The game’s first season will kick off on January 10 at 1 AM PST and will introduce the Fantastic Four as playable heroes.”
The additions were split across the season’s two halves: Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic were scheduled for the first half, followed by Human Torch and The Thing in the second. Season 1 was titled Eternal Night Falls.
Why the season was a vampire fight
In the season’s story, Dracula exploits the supernatural crisis surrounding Doctor Strange’s disappearance, with Doctor Doom’s support. Their forces spread across a New York plunged into darkness. The Fantastic Four and other heroes turn to science to confront the threat.

This was the season’s narrative premise, not a separate real-world event or a claim that every match followed one continuous story. Marvel Rivals is a team-based player-versus-player shooter set across destructible maps.
What else Season 1 introduced
The January 2025 announcement also listed three maps—Sanctum Sanctorum, Midtown, and Central Park—and a new Doom Match mode. In the announced mode, 8 to 12 players were divided among hostile factions and earned points by knocking out opponents. The season also included the limited-time Midnight Features event, which offered digital rewards, and a Luxury Battle Pass with 10 costumes.

How this differs from the next season announced in 2026
As of October 8, 2026, the upcoming update was Season 10.5, not a new Fantastic Four debut. Official patch notes dated October 6 said it would begin October 9, 2026, at 09:00 UTC, with maintenance estimated to last two hours. A developer announcement the following day also described Season 10.5 as upcoming.
Its headline Path to Doomsday: Avengers: Infinity War mode was announced for 12 players in six two-player squads competing for Infinity Stones. Other announced game content included a Blade: Vampire King Bundle, a Devil Dinosaur: Skele-Saurus Bundle, a Cyclops: Phoenix Cyclops Bundle, an Infinity Gauntlet in-game accessory, and the Infinity Finale event. These are in-game content announcements; they do not establish physical products.

So, the Fantastic Four-versus-vampire premise belongs to the January 2025 Season 1 announcement. Season 10.5’s announced focus was Avengers: Infinity War-themed content, not the team’s arrival.
