This is the retrospective Netflix U.S. calendar for September 2024. The month brought a substantial group of Netflix originals and documentaries, including The Perfect Couple, Rebel Ridge, Uglies, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Rez Ball and Will & Harper. It also brought a heavy wave of licensed-title departures.
The most urgent deadlines were clustered around September 1 and September 30. Titles listed as leaving September 1 should generally have been treated as available only through August 31; titles listed as leaving September 30 should not have been left until October 1. Dates and availability were for the U.S. service and could change because of licensing or scheduling decisions.

The 10 September 2024 releases worth prioritizing
These were the month’s most notable Netflix-led additions, with a strong emphasis on scripted series, documentaries, animation and films.

- The Perfect Couple — September 5. A murder-mystery limited series centered on a wedding whose celebrations are disrupted by a death.
- Rebel Ridge — September 6. A Netflix action thriller and one of the month’s principal original-film releases.
- Apollo 13: Survival — September 5. A documentary about the Apollo 13 mission and the effort to bring its crew home safely.
- Emily in Paris Season 4, Part 2 — September 12. The second batch of episodes arrived separately from Part 1, rather than as a complete season in one release.
- Uglies — September 13. A dystopian science-fiction film adapted from Scott Westerfeld’s novel.
- Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — September 19. The second season of Netflix’s Monsters anthology focused on the Menendez brothers’ case.
- Twilight of the Gods — September 19. An adult animated series drawing on Norse mythology.
- Nobody Wants This — September 26. A romantic comedy series starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody.
- Rez Ball — September 27. A sports drama about a Native American high-school basketball team.
- Will & Harper — September 27. A documentary road movie following Will Ferrell and Harper Steele.
Other documentary-led highlights included Caught in the Web: The Murders Behind Zona Divas on September 5, Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer on September 3, Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter on September 12, What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates on September 18 and The Remarkable Life of Ibelin as part of Netflix’s broader fall documentary and film slate.

- Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Dragnet
- The Expendables, The Expendables 2 and The Expendables 3

- Legends of the Fall, Magic Mike and Midnight Run
- Paul Blart: Mall Cop and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2

The same refresh also added three anime titles: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM.

What to watch before it leaves
Prioritize complete series removals first. A film can often be finished in one evening; a five- or seven-season series requires a different plan.
- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin and iZombie. All listed seasons of these CW series were scheduled to leave September 7. The practical target was September 6.
- The Back to the Future trilogy. All three films were listed for removal September 30; aim to finish by September 29.
- How to Get Away With Murder. All six seasons were listed for removal September 30.
- The Conjuring films and Dune. These were major genre priorities in the September 30 group.
- The Breakfast Club and The Lego Movie. Recognizable catalog favorites also scheduled to leave September 30.
September 1 departures: the first deadline
More than 50 movies were listed as leaving Netflix U.S. on September 1. Treat August 31 as the practical last-watch date. The most recognizable titles included:
- The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3
- The Lego Batman Movie
- The Blind Side, The Equalizer and Liar Liar
- The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
- Miami Vice, Pan, Pineapple Express and Total Recall
- Velvet Colección: Grand Finale and Woody Woodpecker
Velvet Seasons 1–4 and Velvet Colección Seasons 1–2 were also listed for removal on September 1.

- Dune, Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed
- Hacksaw Ridge, Home, Léon: The Professional and Pokémon Detective Pikachu
- How to Get Away With Murder Seasons 1–6, S.W.A.T. and The Lego Movie
The reported departure schedule also included Netflix-distributed titles such as Sam Morril: Same Time Tomorrow, Evelyn and Shanghai Fortress. Their “Netflix Original” label should not be read as a guarantee of permanent availability: distribution rights can be limited by time and territory.
How to read Netflix’s dates
- “Leaving September 1” is not a promise of all-day access on September 1. Use August 31 as the safer practical deadline.
- Departure dates are licensing schedules. Netflix or a rights holder may extend, revise or remove a title on a different timetable.
- Release dates can change too. Announced calendars, especially third-party trackers, are subject to updates. A listed date is not necessarily a guaranteed release time.
- Availability is country-specific. This calendar is for Netflix U.S.; other countries license different catalogs.
- Plans may differ. Some licensed titles may not have been available on every plan, including the ad-supported tier. Check the title page and your account before assuming access.
- Check whether a season is complete. A full season, a split-season batch and a weekly episode schedule are not interchangeable. Emily in Paris Season 4 Part 2 was specifically a split-season release.
If you only have one weekend
Choose based on your priority rather than trying to sample everything. For a documentary-focused weekend, start with Apollo 13: Survival, Untold: Hope Solo vs. U.S. Soccer, Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter or Will & Harper. For a scripted binge, prioritize The Perfect Couple, Rebel Ridge or Nobody Wants This. If the goal is to save content before removal, choose a single film trilogy—such as Back to the Future—rather than beginning a multi-season show that cannot realistically be completed.

Where to watch after a departure
A Netflix subscription is directly relevant to viewers seeking the month’s new Netflix releases, but it is a poor reason to subscribe for only one licensed movie that is about to leave. After removal, possible rental or purchase destinations include Prime Video, Apple TV, YouTube Movies & TV and Google TV. These are possible destinations, not confirmed homes for every September title; availability and price must be checked title by title.
For Netflix access, use the official Netflix signup page. Plan names, prices, taxes and availability vary by country and change over time, so no historical September 2024 price should be treated as a current one.
