Mark Wahlberg and The Chosen actor Jonathan Roumie appeared in Hallow’s 30-second Super Bowl LVIII commercial, which invited viewers to pause for prayer. The spot was timed three days before Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2024, and promoted Hallow’s 40-day Pray40 challenge for Lent. The Associated Press reported that it aired in select markets, not that it was shown nationwide.
What was the Mark Wahlberg Hallow Super Bowl commercial?
Hallow announced its first Big Game commercial ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, played on February 11, 2024. The company described a 30-second spot featuring Wahlberg and Roumie, scheduled shortly before halftime. Its message was a brief invitation to step away from the game and pray.
In Hallow’s announcement, the commercial opens with Wahlberg saying: “God, we take this moment just to give You thanks.” The company positioned the spot as a lead-in to Pray40, its 40-day prayer challenge beginning on Ash Wednesday, three days after the game.
Where did it air?
The Associated Press reported on February 12, 2024, that the Wahlberg ad aired in select markets. That qualification matters: the available reporting does not establish that every Super Bowl viewer saw it or that it received a nationwide broadcast.

In February 2024, Axios reported a Hallow spokesperson’s figures of 17 million downloads and more than 400 million completed prayers. Those were dated company-reported totals, not independently verified current figures. Hallow’s campaign announcement gave different figures—10 million downloads and 300 million prayer uses across more than 150 countries—so they should be understood as claims from separate company releases, not combined into one snapshot.
