Lewis Ave. in Tulsa’s historic Kendall Whittier neighborhood, close to the city’s former Route 66 alignment. It combines current films and special events with a restored 1928 theater, local concessions, and community programming.
Plan around the specific screening rather than a fixed daily timetable: the cinema opens 30 minutes before the first scheduled show, ticket prices and availability vary by event, and accessibility features can depend on the film and distributor. Check the current listing before leaving and call the box office at 918-585-3456 if you need an accommodation confirmed.
Where Circle Cinema is and what to expect
The theater is located at 10 S. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK 74104, in the Kendall Whittier neighborhood. The area is associated with Tulsa’s Route 66 history, and the National Park Service identifies Circle Cinema as a historic theater on the former Route 66 alignment. The current venue has four screens.
Circle Cinema operates as a nonprofit. Its program mixes contemporary releases, art-house and international films, classic screenings, and special events. Some events include guests connected with the film. That makes the venue useful for viewers who want more than a standard multiplex schedule, but the exact mix changes continually, so choose from the current event calendar instead of relying on a standing weekly pattern.

When is Circle Cinema open?
Circle Cinema says it is open every day of the year. It opens 30 minutes before the first scheduled showtime, so the practical opening hour changes with that day’s program. There is no single daily opening time that applies to every date.
How to plan your arrival time
- Open the listing for the exact film or event you want to attend.
- Check the listed date, start time, theater, runtime or rating when provided, and ticket availability.
- Plan to be at the cinema by the posted showtime. Circle Cinema says it shows no more than three trailers before a feature and advises guests not to arrive late enough to miss the film.
- Allow extra time if you need to park, use the accessible entrance, buy concessions, or contact staff about an accommodation.
Listings can change, and a film shown in an earlier calendar snapshot may no longer be available. For example, an October 2026 homepage snapshot included a screening of Rabbit Proof Fence on October 13 at 7:00 p.m.; that was a dated listing, not a promise of a continuing run.
Where can I park when visiting Circle Cinema?
The cinema identifies two principal parking areas. One is Kendall Whittier Square, east of the theater. The other is the west lot behind the building.
| Parking area | Location and planning note |
|---|---|
| Kendall Whittier Square | East of Circle Cinema. Spaces may be limited on Saturdays from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. during the farmers market. |
| West lot | Behind the theater. The accessible entrance with automatic doors is beside this lot. |
If you are attending a Saturday morning event, treat the farmers-market period as a potential constraint and allow time to find another space. The front glass doors on S. Lewis Ave. do not open automatically. Doors beneath the marquee are exit-only, so they are not the visitor entrance.

Is Circle Cinema accessible?
Circle Cinema describes the building as ADA-compliant and lists accessible restrooms and two designated accessible parking spaces. The automatic-door entrance is beside the west lot, which is the most useful arrival point for visitors who need step-free access or hands-free entry.
Screening-specific accommodations
Captioning and descriptive-audio options are not identical for every screening. They depend on the film’s format and the distributor. Theater 4 currently does not support closed-captioning devices, so a general statement that captioning is available at the venue does not guarantee it for a particular show.
Call the box office at 918-585-3456 before traveling and identify the film, date, and showtime. Ask which theater is assigned, whether captions or descriptive audio are available for that format, and what equipment or seating arrangement is offered. Confirming in advance is especially important when Theater 4 is listed or when a distributor controls the available access track.
What films and events does Circle Cinema show?
The National Park Service describes the four-screen venue as presenting art-house and international films alongside classic and contemporary screenings. Circle Cinema also schedules special events and may host guests associated with a film. The lineup can therefore range from a repertory title to a current release or a one-time event.

Choosing a screening
Use the event page as the source of truth for four details:
- Date and start time: showtimes are tied to the individual listing.
- Film or event type: a regular screening, classic presentation, guest appearance, or other program may have different timing and admission rules.
- Runtime and rating: check these when the listing provides them, particularly if you are planning around children or another appointment.
- Ticket price and availability: Circle Cinema does not publish one stable general admission price across all programs in the available visitor information.
For documentary viewers, the same approach applies: look for documentary titles, filmmaker appearances, and one-off programs in the current calendar rather than assuming a permanent documentary series. The venue’s broader art-house and community focus makes such events plausible, but only the individual listing establishes what is actually scheduled.
What does admission cost?
There is no single, stable ticket price established for every Circle Cinema screening. Price and remaining seats should be checked on the event’s own ticket page. A special event, classic screening, or guest program may not use the same admission terms as an ordinary feature.
Buy or reserve through the current listing, and check the date carefully before completing the transaction. If an event is important to your plans, verify availability shortly before leaving because the calendar is a live schedule rather than a permanent catalog.

Do they sell food and drinks at Circle Cinema?
Yes. The concession stand sells popcorn, candy, soda, hot dogs, wine, and beer. It also carries Tulsa-made products from Premiere Popcorn, Antoinette’s Bakery, and Heirloom Rustic Ales.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Concession purchases support the Circle Cinema Foundation, so buying refreshments is also a direct way to support the nonprofit that operates the theater. Alcohol service does not change the venue’s age, identification, or event-specific policies; ask staff if a particular program has additional rules.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is Circle Cinema’s history?
The building opened on July 15, 1928, as a silent-film theater. It later passed through different owners and uses, and it was closed for a period. In 2002, Clark Wiens and supporters formed the Circle Cinema Foundation. The foundation acquired the building and reopened it in 2004 as a nonprofit movie theater.
Since reopening, the venue says it has added screens, expanded the lobby, and brought back the original pipe organ. The National Park Service lists the theater on the National Register of Historic Places and describes its connection to Tulsa’s former Route 66 corridor. Those details explain why a visit is partly a film outing and partly a chance to use a preserved neighborhood landmark.

What mission does the nonprofit serve?
Circle Cinema states its mission this way:
“Our mission is to use film to foster understanding and appreciation of the diversity of the human experience and create community among the viewers in the restored historic Circle Cinema.”
That mission is reflected in the combination of international and art-house programming, classic and contemporary films, filmmaker-related events, local products, and a gallery presence in the building. It also means the cinema’s identity is broader than the individual movie on your ticket.
What should I know about severe weather?
If severe weather occurs during a movie, staff pause the film and guide guests to the hallway between Theaters 1 and 2. Circle Cinema describes that hallway as its safest, most interior location. Follow staff instructions promptly rather than leaving on your own during an active warning.
Can I support Circle Cinema through membership?
Circle Cinema’s membership program lists several annual levels and member benefits. The advertised benefits include member ticket pricing, early access to tickets, member-appreciation events, one free regular popcorn with a member ticket purchase, and one free movie ticket during the member’s birth month.

A practical first-visit checklist
- Save the exact event listing, including the date, start time, theater, and ticket instructions.
- Check the listed price and remaining availability rather than assuming a standard admission fee.
- Choose the west lot or Kendall Whittier Square and remember the Saturday farmers-market limitation from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m.
- If you need automatic doors, accessible parking, captions, descriptive audio, or another accommodation, plan to use the west-lot entrance and call 918-585-3456 in advance.
- Arrive by showtime; only up to three trailers precede a feature.
- Leave outside food and drinks at home. Concessions include local Tulsa products and support the foundation.
- If weather becomes severe, move with staff to the hallway between Theaters 1 and 2.
Why visit Circle Cinema?
Circle Cinema offers a type of moviegoing that depends on place as much as programming. You are entering a theater that opened in 1928, was restored and reopened as a nonprofit in 2004, and remains part of Kendall Whittier’s historic Route 66 context. The four screens allow for a changing mix of current, classic, international, and art-house work, while special events can add a local or filmmaker connection.
The best visit is therefore simple to plan but specific in its details: select the current screening, verify its ticket and access information, choose the right entrance and parking area, and arrive on time. Once inside, the concessions, restored surroundings, and community-focused program are part of the Circle Cinema experience rather than extras detached from the film.
