English dub actors Luci Christian and Leah Clark saw Uraraka and Toga’s relationship as more than a hero-versus-villain conflict: in their reading, Toga wanted acceptance, while Uraraka’s recognition of her came late but sincerely. Their comments appeared in October 2024, before the TV anime ended. Since then, the series has reached its TV finale, and the later “More” chapter has also received a special adaptation.

What did the English dub actors say about Uraraka and Toga?

In an interview published by Gizmodo’s io9 on October 28, 2024, Luci Christian, the English dub voice of Ochaco Uraraka, and Leah Clark, the English dub voice of Himiko Toga, discussed how they understood the characters’ connection. These are the performers’ interpretations, not comments from the Japanese cast, the creator, or the anime’s production staff.

Clark described Toga as someone who wanted acceptance from Ochaco and Deku, whom she saw as “popular kids” she wanted to be friends with. Clark also read Toga’s place in the League of Villains as a kind of community: “They don’t have hard rules and they’re just kind of vibing.” In her account, that belonging did not replace Toga’s desire to be accepted by Ochaco and Deku.

Why did the late conversation matter to the actors?

Clark said she first took Ochaco’s response to Toga as a way to save the day. She later understood it as a sincere sign of growth for both characters. That reading made the exchange more affecting to her because Toga, too, “also had to be suspicious.” Clark’s point was about how the moment landed for her as a performer and viewer, not an official explanation of the characters’ motives.

Christian traced an earlier connection to their season-six confrontation. Toga asks whether being evil means she deserves to die; Uraraka initially answers yes. Christian said the scene showed her “there was a deeper connection for the two beyond hero versus villain.” She also quoted Uraraka’s later change of mind: “I wasn’t able to see it before now, and I know I’m super, super late, but I came around to another, better answer. Let’s talk.” Those words are quoted by Christian in the interview; the interview is not a transcript of the anime episode.

How did Christian approach Uraraka’s growth?

Christian said Uraraka “became stronger and more independent,” adding that she was proud of the character’s development. She described Uraraka’s later speeches as emotionally truthful moments that could require her to move beyond a fixed vocal pattern. As Christian put it: “Sometimes as actors, you get so in your head about the parameters of the voice you can’t play the true moment.” Her observation was about the performance challenge of serving a scene rather than staying within a familiar vocal register.

Clark said she loved playing Toga and found it sad to leave the character so close to the end of the series. Christian spoke of the anime as a mainstream breakthrough in her own experience and said it had been a joy to see people come to anime through it. Those are personal reflections, not audience research.

Is My Hero Academia over, or is there more after the finale?

The 2024 interview preceded the ending. The official anime site reported on December 20, 2025, that the TV series had concluded on December 13 with episode 170, “My Hero Academia,” adapting through chapter 430—the final chapter of the Weekly Shonen Jump serialization. The same official announcement said chapter 431, “More,” drawn by Kohei Horikoshi and included at the end of the final manga Volume 42, would be adapted as a TV special.

The announcement described “More” as taking place eight years after U.A. graduation and scheduled its Japanese broadcast for May 2, 2026, on the Yomiuri TV/Nippon TV network, with some areas excluded. That date has passed. A May 25, 2026 Get Your Comic On article subsequently reported that the bonus episode had streamed globally the previous month. The official announcement establishes the adaptation and its planned Japanese broadcast; the later article is secondary reporting on streaming.

What does “More” establish about Uraraka and Toga?

The official announcement identifies “More” as an adaptation of manga chapter 431, but it does not recap the special’s scenes or explain how it affects Uraraka and Toga’s relationship. The sources cited here therefore do not establish whether the special materially changes or resolves that dynamic. Readers who want the manga chapter itself can find it at the end of Volume 42; the anime’s adaptation does not make the volume necessary to follow the TV series.

The official episode listing for episode 168, “Epilogue / The Todoroki Family: Hellish”, dates it to November 29, 2025, and describes postwar recovery, school activity resuming, and the Todoroki family facing Toya. It helps place the anime’s epilogue arc in the timeline, but it is not a source for the specific outcome of Uraraka and Toga’s relationship.
