But despite headlines promising a first look at Skeletor, the contemporaneous account says Jared Leto’s character was not shown that night.
What viewers saw at CinemaCon
At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, held March 31–April 3, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios presented a sizzle reel from the film’s London set. Escape Artists, a production company involved with the film, reported on the presentation on April 2, 2025. Its account describes behind-the-scenes footage and glimpses of production rather than a full public trailer. Escape Artists’ April 2 report says the reel showed cast and creative collaborators, costumes, large sets and intricate backdrops, along with swords and other accessories.
He-Man, Eternia and the film’s scale
The reel included Eternia, the Sword of Power and Galitzine in He-Man costume. It showed him practicing sword play and lifting weights, and included a close-up of the actor in the role, with blond hair. Idris Elba was also shown in costume. Producer Jason Blumenthal called the project a “rebirth of this incredible world” and said “the scale is massive,” as quoted in the Escape Artists report.
Was Skeletor shown?
Not according to the contemporaneous report. It confirms that Jared Leto had been cast as Skeletor, but explicitly says the character was “not shown tonight.” That means the April 2025 account does not establish what Leto’s Skeletor costume looked like, or verify that the featurette contained a full visual reveal. The headline’s “first look at Skeletor” wording should not be read as confirmation of a detailed costume reveal at this particular presentation.

Who is making the film?
The film adapts Mattel’s Masters of the Universe property. Travis Knight is the director, Chris Butler is the screenwriter, and the story is by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee and Dave Callaham. The cast named in the Escape Artists report includes Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley, Jared Leto as Skeletor and Idris Elba.
How this reveal fits the franchise
Mattel launched Masters of the Universe as an action-figure line in 1982. The animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe followed in syndication in 1983, according to Escape Artists. The CinemaCon reel’s glimpses of Eternia, the Sword of Power and the costumed characters connect the film’s production design to that established fantasy world without showing how the finished film will look in full.

Keep the 2025 footage separate from later promotions
There were later Masters of the Universe promotions that should not be confused with the April 2025 reel. Animation World Network’s description identifies a separate featurette circulated in April 2026 featuring Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba and director Travis Knight: Animation World Network’s featurette listing. Separate coverage of a 2026 CinemaCon presentation describes later footage and more of Leto’s Skeletor voice performance: The Hollywood Reporter’s 2026 CinemaCon account. Those later materials are distinct from what the 2025 report says was shown.
The April 2025 report listed June 5, 2026, as the film’s scheduled theatrical release date. That listing records the plan at the time; the cited reports do not establish whether the film actually opened on that date.
