The allegations had been raised publicly by fellow wrestler Allysin Kay; reporting identified La Rosa Negra as the wrestler involved in the alleged 2017 incident in Japan. The accounts remain attributed claims and denials, not an independently adjudicated finding.
What were the allegations?
In January 2020, wrestler Allysin Kay publicly alleged that Blanchard had spat in a Black wrestler’s face and used a racial slur during an incident in Japan. POST Wrestling reported that Kay was referring to La Rosa Negra and that Negra confirmed the story. Other contemporaneous accounts also raised allegations of bullying and conduct beyond the reported incident; those, too, should be understood as allegations rather than established findings.
What did Blanchard say?
January 2020 statement
Blanchard denied using the slur and addressed racism more broadly. In a statement reproduced by POST Wrestling, she said: “To be clear, I absolutely did not use that word. That word is not in my vocabulary. That word is not in my heart. Racism is not in my heart.” She added that she was willing to use her platform to support anti-racism efforts: “While I did not do what was claimed, I stand ready to use my platform to support the fight against racism however I can.” Read the statement as reported by POST Wrestling.
February media call
Blanchard reiterated her denial during a February media call. Fightful transcribed her as saying: “One thing I will say though, I’ve never used a racial slur of any kind in my life.” Fightful’s report and transcript document the answer.

September post
In September, Blanchard said she was taking control of her narrative and denied having a history of racist language. The reported wording does not establish that she apologized, nor does it resolve the competing accounts. POST Wrestling reported on the post and the dispute.
What did La Rosa Negra say?
Negra’s account was reported separately in September. Describing her response to the incident, she said: “Mine was to forget what happened on that day in April of 2017 in Japan.” That is Negra’s reported recollection; it is not an independent adjudication of the allegation. Why did the issue draw attention then?
The allegations surfaced during the news cycle around IMPACT Wrestling’s Hard To Kill event. Blanchard defeated Sami Callihan there and became the first woman to hold the IMPACT World Championship. The title victory was part of the immediate context, not evidence for or against the allegations. Fightful reported on the championship win.

The reporting documents Kay’s allegation, Negra’s reported confirmation and account, and Blanchard’s denials across three occasions in 2020. The sources cited here do not establish an independent investigation or adjudication that resolved the dispute. The clearest account is therefore a chronological one: identify who made each claim, preserve the denial, and avoid presenting either side’s account as a proven finding.
