He explained that the title came from a lyric: “Yes, I’ve listened to Lady Gaga, but we really named the song that because there’s a verse that says that she wears sunglasses on her face like Lady Gaga.” His answer makes the name a reference within the song, rather than evidence that the track is about Gaga herself.
Was the song intended for Lady Gaga’s LGBTQ+ fans?
Peso Pluma acknowledged Gaga’s status as an LGBTQ+ icon and that listeners in that community were interested in the song. He clarified, however, that it was not written specifically about the LGBTQ+ community. He described his intended audience inclusively: “However you identify, my music is for everyone. Everyone can listen to my music.”

That distinction matters: the song can resonate with LGBTQ+ listeners without being presented as an LGBTQ+ anthem or as a track written expressly for that community.

The artist’s explanation of the title is separate from critical descriptions of the music. Pitchfork’s review describes it as an acoustic ballad and interprets its contemporary references through corrido conventions. That is the reviewer’s characterization, not Peso Pluma’s stated explanation of what the song means.
