Mike Wolfe’s September 2025 car accident has not been shown to change American Pickers’ production plans. The available reporting does not confirm that the show has been renewed or canceled for Season 28. Season 27 episodes were reported to return to HISTORY in February 2026, but that schedule is not a Season 28 order.

In a February 2026 interview with TV Insider, Wolfe said they were in a 1958 Porsche when an Escalade driven by a drunk driver hit them. That is Wolfe’s account; the cited coverage does not provide an independent crash-investigation record.
Wolfe also spoke about the crash’s lasting emotional impact: “It’s one of those things that changes you forever. You play the accident over and over and again in your mind.”

Did the accident affect American Pickers Season 28?
Nothing in the available reporting establishes that the accident affected Season 28 production. Wolfe said in the February interview, “We’ve got shows coming up. We were in talks behind the scenes about when we want to fire this thing up again.” Those remarks describe discussions he said were taking place; they are not a HISTORY announcement confirming a new season or Wolfe’s participation in one.
What is known about the show’s status?
Season 27
A February 2026 report said Season 27 episodes were returning to HISTORY on February 15. Wolfe described the hiatus as a period when the network aired other programs. A Season 27 broadcast schedule does not confirm a subsequent season.

Season 28
A December 2025 report said HISTORY had not officially canceled the series. It quoted a representative saying the show was not then producing new episodes and that a full season had already been recorded. The report also said a Season 28 return had not been confirmed.
As of the latest production-status reporting described here, Season 28 remains unconfirmed: there is no sourced renewal or cancellation announcement. Wolfe’s interview does not resolve that status.

Why the hiatus does not answer the renewal question
A pause in new production and a season’s episodes continuing to air are separate from a decision to order another season. The December 2025 account described the show as not then producing new episodes while a recorded season remained; the February 2026 schedule concerned Season 27. Neither report establishes a Season 28 order or ties the pause to Wolfe’s accident.
