Matty Healy’s clearest public response to Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department was that he had not listened to much of it, but was sure it was good. He made the brief remark in an exchange reported on April 25, 2024, six days after the album’s release.
What did Matty Healy say about TTPD?
Asked by a photographer how he rated the alleged “diss track” about him, Healy laughed and said: “I haven’t really listened to that much of it, but I’m sure it’s good.” The Evening Standard reported that he suggested he had not had a chance to listen. His quoted answer is the clearest direct public response in coverage of the album.
Swift did not name Healy in the reaction reports cited here. The question’s “diss track” wording reflects the photographer’s framing, not confirmation from Swift that a song was about Healy.
When did the exchange happen?
Swift announced the album while accepting a Grammy on February 4, 2024; the Associated Press reported that it was scheduled for release on April 19. Healy’s response was reported by the Evening Standard on April 25, after the album was out.

Did Healy say he felt relieved?
Us Weekly reported on April 19, citing unnamed insiders, that Healy felt “relief” after the album came out, had worried the story might portray him negatively, and appreciated receiving an advance heads-up from Swift’s team. Those are anonymous-source claims about his private feelings, not statements Healy made publicly in the April 25 exchange. They should not be treated as confirmed accounts of his state of mind.
Are any TTPD songs confirmed to be about Healy?
The coverage cited here does not establish that Swift confirmed any specific song was about Healy. Entertainment Tonight discusses tracks some people believe concern him, while also identifying other apparent subjects across the album. TIME’s discussion of “But Daddy I Love Him” considers fan criticism and public debate around Swift’s relationship rumors; that is interpretation, not confirmation from the artist.
