Netflix error M7037-1105 usually means a computer cannot reach Netflix reliably over its current internet connection. Netflix associates the code with an internet or home-network problem that prevents playback. It does not, by itself, tell you whether the cause is your Wi-Fi, router, ISP, a public-network restriction, or altered connection settings.
Start by checking whether Netflix works on another device connected to the same Wi-Fi. That quick comparison helps distinguish a problem with the whole network from one limited to your computer. Then follow the steps below, from a network restart to checking VPN, proxy, or DNS settings.
What does Netflix error M7037-1105 mean?
Netflix describes M7037-1105 as a computer playback error associated with an internet or home-network connection that prevents the computer from reaching Netflix. The message may read something like “Internet Connection Problem.” Netflix’s troubleshooting page for M7037-1105 recommends checking the connection, restarting network equipment, restoring changed connection settings, and contacting your internet provider if the problem continues.

Start with these quick checks
- Try Netflix on another device connected to the same Wi-Fi. Make sure it is not using cellular data.
- Open another website on the computer showing the error.
- If you are on hotel, café, school, workplace, or other public Wi-Fi, complete any network sign-in and ask whether video streaming is restricted.
- Restart your modem and router using the 30-second procedure below.
- Temporarily disconnect any VPN or proxy, and restore custom DNS settings to their defaults if you changed them.
- Visit Fast.com, let the test finish, and try Netflix again.
Use the results to narrow it down

These comparisons are most useful when they are like-for-like. A phone on cellular data does not test the same connection as a laptop on home Wi-Fi. Likewise, if Netflix works on the phone using the same Wi-Fi, that does not rule out a problem specific to the computer’s route or settings.
1. Check for public Wi-Fi restrictions
On a hotel, café, library, school, or workplace network, open an ordinary webpage and look for a sign-in page or notice that requires you to accept terms. Public networks may block streaming services, limit bandwidth, or require you to reauthenticate after a period of time. Netflix specifically notes that some public networks restrict video services.
Complete the network’s approved sign-in and ask its operator whether streaming is allowed. Do not try to bypass a school or employer’s network controls. If you have permission, briefly testing with a mobile hotspot can help show whether the public network is the obstacle; a hotspot is not necessarily a good permanent option, since cellular connections can be slow or unstable for streaming.

2. Restart the modem and router
Netflix recommends restarting network equipment with the computer off and the modem unplugged for a full 30 seconds. If your modem and router are separate devices, restart them in this order:
- Turn off the computer that is showing the error.
- Unplug the modem from power. If you have a separate wireless router, unplug it too.
- Leave both devices unplugged for 30 seconds.
- Plug the modem back in and wait until its indicator lights return to their normal state.
- If the router is separate, plug it back in and wait for it to finish starting.
- Turn on the computer and try Netflix again.
This is a restart, not a factory reset. Do not press a recessed Reset button as a substitute: a factory reset can erase Wi-Fi and other network settings.
3. Improve or test the Wi-Fi connection
A weak or interrupted signal can make playback fail even when basic web pages load. Netflix recommends moving the computer and router closer together, placing the router in an open, elevated spot such as a shelf or desk, and keeping it away from appliances and other wireless devices that may cause interference.

If possible, connect the computer to the router with Ethernet. If playback works over Ethernet but not Wi-Fi, the wireless link is a stronger suspect. You can also pause large downloads, cloud backups, game updates, and other streams while testing. If your router has 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands, try 5 GHz at close range and 2.4 GHz farther away; which works better depends on distance and obstructions.

4. Check VPN, proxy, and custom DNS settings
Netflix lists VPN, proxy, custom DNS, and custom modem settings among connection settings to restore to their defaults. If you use a VPN or proxy, disconnect it temporarily and test Netflix again. A VPN may be required by your employer or school; if so, ask the network administrator for help rather than changing managed settings.
If you previously changed DNS or modem settings, return them to the original or default configuration. Do not switch to a third-party DNS service as a universal fix: Netflix’s guidance is to restore changed settings, not to use a particular DNS provider. If you are unsure what was changed, record the current settings before making adjustments and consult the device or router manufacturer. Avoid a router factory reset unless you know how to restore the configuration or have ISP support available.

5. Run Fast.com, then contact your ISP if needed
Open Fast.com, allow the test to complete, and try Netflix again. Netflix directs users to Fast.com to check the connection to its service. The result is useful evidence, but it is not a complete diagnosis: a good speed result does not rule out intermittent dropouts, packet loss, DNS problems, a VPN or firewall issue, or a streaming restriction on a managed network. Do not treat one speed result as a guarantee that playback should work.
If the error persists after the checks above, contact your internet service provider. Ask them to check for an outage, modem or router trouble, and network configuration problems. Explain:

- whether other websites and services work;
- whether Netflix works on another device on the same Wi-Fi; and
- whether Netflix works on the computer over another network, plus your Fast.com result.
After any network changes or ISP troubleshooting, test Fast.com and try Netflix playback again.

What if the error persists in a specific situation?
Netflix works on a phone but not on the laptop
First confirm the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi. If it is using cellular data, the comparison does not test your home network. If both devices use the same Wi-Fi and only the laptop fails, focus on that computer’s connection and any VPN, proxy, DNS, or other network settings. The phone’s success does not by itself show that the laptop is defective.
Other websites fail too
If the affected computer cannot reliably open other websites, troubleshoot the computer’s internet connection and home network first. If several devices have the same problem, contact your ISP or the operator of the network you are using.
Only one Netflix title fails
Test another title and, if practical, the same title on another device. M7037-1105 is described by Netflix as a computer and network connectivity issue, so do not assume a single-title symptom is a catalog problem. If other titles play but one title fails on multiple devices, note that distinction when contacting Netflix.

Do not keep repeating the restart or jump straight to a factory reset. Try Ethernet, compare another device on the same network, test a different network if available, review VPN/proxy/custom DNS settings, and run Fast.com. If the problem points to the network, give the ISP the comparison results.
Should you contact Netflix or your ISP?
Contact your ISP when several devices are affected, other services are unreliable, the connection drops or seems unstable, or Netflix works on a different network but not yours. Contact Netflix if your connection appears to work, the issue persists across networks, or testing suggests a title-specific problem. When you ask either one for help, provide the exact code and message, your computer and browser, whether you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and what happened in the same-network, different-network, and Fast.com tests.
You do not need to begin by reinstalling Netflix, changing your subscription, buying a VPN, changing DNS servers blindly, or replacing your router. First establish whether the problem follows the computer, the network, or a particular title.
