Mutant’s *Dune: Part One* poster is a limited-edition screenprint by Korean American artist Deb JJ Lee, announced on April 18, 2024. It was offered in regular and variant editions, but the sale was scheduled for April 19, 2024; current availability of this specific print has not been established.
What is Mutant’s new Dune poster?
It is a 24 × 36-inch screenprint depicting Paul on Arrakis, with imagery surrounding him that evokes the weight of his fate. That description of the artwork is the reporter’s visual reading, not a statement attributed to Lee. Mutant described the release as the first collaboration between the artist and the poster company. Gizmodo/io9’s April 2024 announcement covered the artwork and release details.
Mutant co-founder Mitch Putnam explained the choice of artist to io9: “Once we got settled over here at Mutant and the Dune license came in, we knew that would be perfect for them.” He also said, “Their work is cinematic on a level that few can match.” Those are Putnam’s comments on the collaboration, rather than independent assessments.
How did the regular and variant editions differ?
| Edition | Dimensions | Screenprint colors | Edition size | Announced price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | 24 × 36 inches | 9 | 215 prints | $70, originally listed |
| Variant | 24 × 36 inches | 10 | 115 prints | $100, originally listed |
The variant used one more color, was produced in a smaller edition, and was listed at a higher price. These are the edition sizes and prices reported for the original 2024 release, not current resale values. The announcement report gives those specifications.
