Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars is an Apple TV documentary series about real restaurants and chefs pursuing, retaining, or improving their Michelin recognition. Gordon Ramsay is an executive producer, while Jesse Burgess hosts. Its second season premiered on September 25, 2026, following 16 restaurants through very different kinds of professional pressure.
What is Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars about?
The series follows chefs and restaurant teams through the Michelin Guide’s year-long cycle: trying to earn a first Star, keep an existing one, or move up to a second or third. Apple describes Michelin inspectors as dining anonymously and the judging process as secretive. The visible prize is a Star; the uncertainty around whether a restaurant will receive or retain one supplies the central tension.
Apple’s announcement describes the first season as following restaurants in cities including Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, and Copenhagen. The series is produced for Apple TV by Studio Ramsay Global, which Apple identifies as a Fox Entertainment Company.
Who is involved—and what is Ramsay’s role?
Ramsay is an executive producer, not the host. Jesse Burgess, co-founder of food and travel platform Topjaw, hosts the series. Apple’s May 2025 announcement also names Lisa Edwards and Morgan Roberts as executive producers. For season two, Apple additionally names Lorraine Charker-Phillips and Jill Greenwood as executive producers and James Callum as director.

Ramsay described the chefs’ pursuit as involving “drive and ambition” and “determination and sacrifice.” Burgess said the series would tell the stories of restaurants pursuing what he called “the ultimate award.” Those are the producers’ characterizations of the subject, rather than independent findings about the Michelin Guide or the restaurants.
What does season two follow?
Apple announced an eight-part second season following 16 restaurants at pivotal moments across Great Britain and Ireland, the United States, Brazil, France, the Nordics, and Germany. Its examples show that a Star chase can mean very different things depending on a restaurant’s circumstances:

When did season two come out?
Apple set the second season’s premiere for September 25, 2026, with two episodes available at launch. Apple describes the season as eight parts. The first season was also announced as an eight-episode run in May 2025.

The premise is more specific than a general portrait of ambitious chefs: each restaurant is navigating a public-facing goal whose decision-making process Apple describes as secretive. Season two’s stories range from opening a new restaurant to trying to regain a Star after reopening, so the stakes involve business changes and career ambitions as well as recognition. Apple’s announcements establish that setup, but do not provide independent evidence of the series’ quality or disclose every restaurant’s eventual result.
