So the most defensible answer is not that Tori received “nothing,” and not that she inherited hundreds of millions. It is that she reportedly received about $800,000 directly, while Candy received the bulk of the estate.
Comparing $800,000 with the reported $300 million-to-$600 million range makes the inheritance look like a very small fraction of Aaron’s estimated wealth. However, that comparison should not be presented as a precise percentage of the estate. The fortune figures were estimates, and an individual’s “net worth” is not necessarily the same thing as the assets distributed through probate. Property, business interests, royalties, trusts, taxes, debts, and other obligations can all affect the final amount available to beneficiaries.

Television royalties and companies are harder to trace
Aaron Spelling’s wealth came from an extensive television career, including shows such as Dynasty, Starsky and Hutch, and Beverly Hills, 90210. His business interests and the continuing value of production and syndication-related rights are often mentioned in coverage of the family fortune.
But the sources available for this account do not provide a complete probate inventory identifying exactly which royalties, production companies, trusts, or other assets went to which beneficiary. There was also considerable reporting about tension within the Spelling family. The Los Angeles Times reported that Tori had reconciled with her father before he died. ABC News later described her relationship with her mother as highly strained at the time and reported that Tori learned of her father’s death from a friend by email.

Those details explain why the inheritance became a subject of public fascination, but they do not prove why Aaron’s will was structured as it was. It would be speculation to say definitively that the amount was a punishment for Tori’s marriage, her relationship with Dean McDermott, family estrangement, or spending habits. Why did Tori later talk about financial problems?
By 2013, Tori was publicly discussing the contrast between her childhood wealth and her adult financial pressures. - real-estate decisions;
- a canceled reality television series;
- pregnancy-related expenses;
- household spending and other financial choices; and

ABC News also reported that Tori had postponed a medical procedure for her husband because the family did not have the money available at that moment. Tori publicly acknowledged making poor financial choices. These admissions are useful because they show why the story cannot be reduced to “she spent the inheritance.” The amount, the family’s lifestyle, income changes, housing decisions, work circumstances, and ongoing expenses all formed part of the picture.
Did Tori spend all of the inheritance?
