The Menendez family’s Beverly Hills home is still standing, according to the latest property reporting available: it sold for $17 million in March 2024 and was reported vacant while undergoing renovation in October 2024. That 2024 update does not establish who owns or lives in the house today.

What happened to the house after the murders?

José and Kitty Menendez were killed in their Beverly Hills family home in 1989. A Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office court exhibit recounts the brothers leaving the residence as officers arrived. The court exhibit documents the police response; it does not provide a later history of the property.

The residence remained standing and continued to be sold as a home. Its subsequent sale and renovation are separate from the criminal case: the available reporting does not say the house was demolished.

When was the house sold, and for how much?

The reported transactions and valuation are distinct figures, not a single continuous estimate of the home’s value:

Date Reported event Amount
1991 The house reportedly sold, according to Realtor.com. $3.6 million
Before the 1991 sale Earlier appraisal reported by Realtor.com. $4.8 million
2001 Los Angeles Times reported that telecommunications executive Sam Delug bought the home. $3.7 million
December 2023 The home was listed for sale, according to the Los Angeles Times. Just under $20 million
March 2024 The home sold, according to the Los Angeles Times. $17 million

The Los Angeles Times reported Delug was the seller in the 2024 transaction and said the buyer’s identity was not immediately known. Its March 2024 sale report covers the listing, sale, seller and Delug’s purchase. Realtor.com reported the 1991 sale and earlier appraisal. Its account also describes reported buyer and broker stigma, but the difference between the 1991 sale price and appraisal does not by itself prove the murders caused a discount.

Was the house occupied or renovated?

In October 2024, the Los Angeles Times reported that the house was vacant and undergoing renovation, and that visitors curious about the crime had been drawn to the property. That report is a dated account of its condition at the time, not a current status update.

An Associated Press case overview published in May 2025 mentions the Beverly Hills house among properties sold after the murders, but does not provide a newer update on occupancy or renovation. The AP report therefore does not establish what happened at the property after the October 2024 account.

Who owns the Menendez brothers’ house now?

The sources cited here do not verify the current owner, whether renovations were completed, or whether anyone lives in the house as of October 8, 2026. The buyer was not identified in the Los Angeles Times’ March 2024 sale report, and the October 2024 report only establishes that the home was then vacant and being renovated. Claims naming a current owner or resident should not be treated as confirmed without reliable, newer reporting or records.
