Sway Motorsports was reported to have shut down in 2018 without making scooters. Mark Cuban agreed to invest on camera, but follow-up coverage says the deal never closed. The televised offer therefore did not become a completed investment, and the proposed three-wheeled electric scooter did not reach production, according to the available reporting.
What Sway Motorsports pitched on Shark Tank
Joe Wilcox presented Sway Motorsports as a maker of a compact, all-electric, three-wheel motorcycle for urban commuters. In 2015 pitch coverage, he sought $300,000 for 10 percent of the company. Inc.’s recap of the pitch describes the proposal.
Follow-up coverage characterized the proposed vehicle as a three-wheeled electric scooter with lean-to-steer control. That describes the concept, not a production model: the available reporting says Sway never made scooters. Claims about how safe, stable, fast, or capable the vehicle would have been should be treated as pitch or company claims, not independently verified performance results. The product description does not establish that customers could buy or test a finished scooter.
Did Mark Cuban’s deal go through?
No, according to post-show coverage. Cuban’s reported on-air offer was $300,000 for 20 percent, but the deal did not close after filming. The difference between Wilcox’s ask and the offer is clear; the sources do not establish that Sway received the investment.

| Stage | Reported terms | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Wilcox’s pitch | $300,000 for 10 percent | His reported request in 2015 pitch coverage. Inc. |

An offer made on the program is not proof of a completed investment. In Sway’s case, the follow-up reporting distinguishes the on-camera agreement from what happened afterward.
Did the Sway scooter ever go on sale?
Follow-up reporting says Sway made no scooters. That means the proposed vehicle should not be described as a scooter that reached customers, and the sources do not establish a Sway production model or Sway-specific parts and accessories for sale. The company update reports that no scooters were made.

Is Sway Motorsports still in business?
Shark Tank Companies’ update says Sway shut down in 2018, and its company listing marks Sway out of business. The closure date and status are reported by secondary sources; no company filing or statement from Wilcox confirming the shutdown is established in the available coverage. It is therefore most accurate to say Sway was reported to have shut down in 2018 rather than present that date as independently confirmed. The update and company listing provide the reported status.
