No reliable evidence shows that SpankBang itself, or a specific SpankBang-related subreddit, was shut down or banned from Reddit. The phrase “SpankBang Reddit” can refer to several different things, and each has a different answer, so the useful first step is working out which situation you are actually describing.
Why the question has no single answer
Readers searching this phrase usually mean one of three things: a subreddit named after or about SpankBang, Reddit posts discussing the website, or the website not loading where they live. Reddit’s policies treat each differently, and the sources available for this question do not connect any of them to a named SpankBang community. Without a community name, a post link, a location, or a date, no specific cause can be confirmed.
What the available sources establish
- Reddit’s Help Center, “Banned Communities” page: communities can be banned for violating Reddit’s rules, and “Banned communities are inaccessible to all users.” This explains what a ban does. It does not say that any SpankBang-related community has been banned.
- Reddit’s country-level restrictions: Reddit says reported content that appears to violate local law may be geoblocked in the relevant country. This is one general mechanism that can make Reddit content unavailable in a single country. It is not evidence of a SpankBang-specific restriction.
- Reddit’s July–December 2024 transparency report: Reddit may ban a subreddit after multiple removals of violating content, or when a subreddit is clearly dedicated to sharing violating content. This describes general enforcement policy and says nothing about any particular community.
- An April 2021 moderator post in r/ModSupport: a different subreddit, r/nsfw_korea, was set private amid copyright takedowns and later returned to public. It shows that a community’s visibility can change, but it is an anecdote about an unrelated community.
- A December 2024 post in r/texas: a user listed SpankBang among adult websites they said were inaccessible in a US state. This is one individual’s report. It is not official confirmation of the website’s availability, a legal cause, or any site-wide shutdown.
Four different events that get described the same way
A subreddit ban, a subreddit set private, a removed post, and a website that will not load in one place are separate events with separate causes and separate ways of being confirmed.
| Situation | What it means | Who can confirm it | Evidence found for SpankBang |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subreddit banned | The community is inaccessible to all users, per Reddit’s Banned Communities page | Reddit, through a notice to the community’s moderators or a visible ban state | No SpankBang-related community identified as banned |
| Subreddit set private | The community is hidden from the public; only approved members can view it | The community’s moderators or Reddit’s notices to them | No SpankBang-related community identified; the only private-community example is the unrelated r/nsfw_korea case from April 2021 |
| Individual post removed | One post is no longer visible, while the community itself remains | The post’s author, who can see removal status | No specific removed post identified |
| Website not loading in one location | SpankBang cannot be reached from a particular country, region, or network | The reader’s own testing from different networks, plus any official site notice | One December 2024 individual report from a US state; not confirmed by any official source |
How to work out which situation you are in
- Write down the exact name or link. If you saw a subreddit name, copy it exactly. If you saw a post, keep its full URL. Without one of these, no community-level status can be checked.
- Check whether the community page loads while logged out and while logged in. A page that returns an error or no longer appears in search tells you the community is not reachable, but not why.
- Test the post separately. Open the post directly from its link. If the community loads but the post does not, the issue is likely the post itself rather than the whole community.
- Test the website from a different network. Try a different Wi-Fi connection or mobile data. If the site loads on one network but not another, the problem is local to that network or location rather than a site-wide shutdown.
- Keep any official notice you receive. A notice from Reddit or a moderator notice is the only type of evidence that identifies a cause. Anything else, including forum posts, is an individual account.
Reddit’s country-level restrictions
Reddit’s general policy allows reported content to be geoblocked in a country where it appears to violate local law. That can make specific Reddit content unavailable to people in that country while remaining visible elsewhere. The sources reviewed do not show that this policy has been applied to any SpankBang-related content, so it should be treated as a general possibility rather than an explanation for a specific case.

What you can responsibly say
- Say that a subreddit was banned only if you can point to a community name and an official notice or visible ban state.
- Say that a website was inaccessible in a particular place only if you can describe the location, the network, and the date of the test.
- Describe the December 2024 r/texas post as one user’s report, not a documented access restriction.
- Do not describe a SpankBang shutdown as fact unless an official site announcement can be identified.
