Sia has not retired, and she has not stopped making music. She is less visible than she was during her most public years, and she has been releasing new songs and collaborations through 2025 and 2026. Her lower profile is a matter of how often she performs and appears in public, not a sign that her career has ended. The sections below separate what is documented from what is only inferred, and they date each claim to its source.
Her recorded work is still arriving
The clearest evidence that Sia is still active is her release history. Apple Music’s artist catalog lists the following recent titles:

This is a catalog listing, so it shows release dates rather than sales or chart performance. Catalog listings can also lag or omit items, so treat the table as a record of what Apple Music shows, not a complete discography.
Why she is less visible
Sia has described a long-standing wish for privacy. In a 2020 career profile, ABC triple j reported her comments about finding touring and fame psychologically difficult, and about wanting her songwriting to support a life that did not depend on being in the spotlight. She put it this way, quoted in that profile from a Howard Stern interview: “I wanted to work out a way to make, like, my gift work in my favour without having to sell a piece of my serenity real estate.”

Her own comments help explain the pattern of her career, including her decision to write for other artists. They do not establish a single reason for her present visibility. A 2026 La Vanguardia profile describes her as keeping a lower public profile while continuing to release music. That outlet’s account is the most recent source on her current posture, and it is reported, not confirmed by Sia in a statement quoted in the piece.
The depression she has described
In a 2023 interview reported by the Los Angeles Times, Sia said she was severely depressed after a divorce and spent a prolonged period in bed. She linked the later making of Reasonable Woman to having worked through that period. These are her own accounts of her experience. They are not a medical assessment, and nothing in the reporting should be read as a diagnosis or as a statement about her health today.

The controversy around the film Music
Sia directed and co-wrote Music, a musical drama released in 2021. It drew sustained criticism, and that criticism shaped how many people remember her work from the period.
What critics objected to
The Guardian documented three main objections:
- The film’s portrayal of autism, which advocates and viewers challenged.
- The casting of a neurotypical actor in the lead role of a character who is autistic.
- A prone-restraint scene that drew objections over how it depicted restraint.
Her apology and her later disclosure
The Guardian also reported Sia’s public apology. In it she said: “I listened to the wrong people and that is my responsibility, my research was clearly not thorough enough, not wide enough.” She promised to listen and take responsibility.

- New Store Stock
In a 2023 podcast appearance about the television series Survivor, she said publicly that she is on the autism spectrum. The Guardian quoted her: “I’m on the spectrum,” and “I’ve felt like for 45 years, I was like, ‘I’ve got to go put my human suit on’.” Her disclosure is relevant personal context, but it does not answer the earlier criticism of the film. Those are separate questions, and the film’s critics did not accept personal disclosure as a substitute for accurate representation.
Divorce proceedings: what is established
AP reported in March 2025 that Sia had filed for divorce from Daniel Bernard and summarized the requests in the petition. A filing opens a case; it is not a final ruling, and the reporting available does not establish the case’s current status.

- An official current touring schedule. The sources reviewed do not list one.
- The current state of the divorce case beyond the March 2025 filing.
- Any announcement of retirement. None of the sources describe one.
- Her health or the reasons behind her reduced public presence, beyond what she has said about privacy and past depression.
Anyone searching this question should expect that new reporting, a tour announcement, or a new release would be the most likely next update. Check Apple Music’s artist page and Sia’s own statements for the latest dated information.
