Shinra confronts Haumea as the Great Cataclysm transforms the world into a ruin. He becomes the hope-centered force opposing her vision of humanity’s extinction—and the ending leads into the world of Soul Eater, as creator Atsushi Ohkubo has explained.
What happens to Shinra in the final battle?
In Volume 34, the Great Cataclysm is underway: Earth has merged with Adolla, leaving Shinra Banshō Man amid a devastated landscape. Haumea says she has fulfilled humanity’s ultimate wish for extinction. Shinra refuses that conclusion, holding on to hope and unleashing his power against her.
The publisher presents the climax as a contest between Haumea’s despair and Shinra’s hope, and identifies Volume 34 as the final chapter of the Fire Force saga. That is the clearest supported answer to what happens to Shinra at the climax: he stands against Haumea’s end-of-the-world vision as the story’s figure of hope.
How does Volume 33 set up the ending?
The preceding volume establishes the terms of the final conflict. Kodansha’s Volume 33 synopsis says Haumea reveals the Evangelist’s identity to Shinra and Shō and presents despair as the endpoint of evolution. Volume 34 then brings that argument into the Great Cataclysm: Haumea embraces extinction, while Shinra continues to fight for hope.

How is the ending connected to Soul Eater?
The ending is intended to connect the worlds of Fire Force and Soul Eater, not merely to include a visual reference to Ohkubo’s earlier series. In a 2025 interview with Anime Corner, Ohkubo said he initially wanted that connection to remain somewhat ambiguous. He described the Fire Force world ending in disaster and then becoming the world of Soul Eater.
That creator comment establishes the broad world-building intent; it does not explain every continuity detail. The useful takeaway is that the catastrophe and the transition into Soul Eater are meant to be connected within the fiction.

Does the anime ending match the manga?
The anime and manga should be treated as separate adaptation endpoints unless a specific scene has been compared directly. ORICON reported that the Fire Force anime’s final episode aired on April 3, 2026, and included a “25 years later” scene. That report establishes the anime time-skip scene, but not that every detail matches the manga’s ending.
For the manga’s final confrontation, the publisher’s account is the relevant guide: Shinra faces Haumea during the Great Cataclysm. The anime report supplies a time-skip detail, not a scene-by-scene comparison of the two endings.
