He also answered “Yes” when asked in June 2026 whether Austin Powers 4 would happen—but gave no details, so that is not confirmation of a release date or production schedule.
Why people are asking what happened to Mike Myers
Myers became widely known for character-driven comedy and major film franchises, particularly Austin Powers and Shrek. His recent screen presence has been selective rather than absent. Coverage documents a television appearance, a commercial, and a reported forthcoming franchise role, but it does not establish why he has taken a less constant public profile.
What Mike Myers has done recently
He returned to Saturday Night Live in 2025
Myers appeared on Saturday Night Live in March 2025, including an impression of Elon Musk. During the closing credits, he wore a “Canada is Not for Sale” shirt. The Daily Beast reported that Myers described it as support for Canada. In a 2025 interview with The New York Times, as recounted by The Daily Beast, Myers said: “What happened came from my ankles and from my brain and from my heart, and it was not about me—it was about my country.” The Daily Beast’s account.
He appeared as Dr. Evil in a Verizon commercial
Variety reported in 2026 that Myers appeared as Dr. Evil in a Verizon commercial. That appearance brought one of his best-known characters back into public view, but it was an advertisement, not news of a new Austin Powers film. Variety’s report.

Will there be an Austin Powers 4?
In June 2026, Myers was asked on Trevor Noah’s World Cup Watch Party whether a fourth Austin Powers movie would happen. He answered “Yes,” but offered no further details. It is a notable public response, not an official studio announcement. The reporting available here gives no confirmed release date, production start, script details, or cast announcement.
The possibility has surfaced before. The Independent recounts Myers’s earlier, coy comments and quotes director Jay Roach’s 2020 view that another film depended on Myers finding an idea that inspired him. TheWrap also notes that a reported near-deal in 2011 did not come to fruition. Those earlier discussions do not establish that a new movie is now in production. What to take from the latest news
Myers remains connected to familiar characters and has appeared publicly in recent years. The clearest future-project report is Shrek 5, for which he was expected to return as Shrek and a 2027 release year was reported in April 2026. The Austin Powers answer is intriguing, but until production or a release is confirmed, it should be treated as a possibility rather than a scheduled film. GamesRadar’s Shrek 5 report.
