Her later credits include the Chuck Lorre sitcom Mom, the TV Land comedy Impastor, Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, American Housewife, ABC’s B Positive, and a return to The Rookie. Nothing in the available reporting suggests she retired or left acting.
Her career after The Big Bang Theory
Rue’s appearances on The Big Bang Theory were a small part of a longer run of television work. Credit listings count three appearances on the show. The table below lists the later projects that the available sources name, with the role type and date range where the sources state them.
| Project | Role type | Role or detail | Dates or timing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mom (Chuck Lorre sitcom) | Recurring | Role not stated | Rue discussed working on the show in a 2015 AMA; Hallmark’s cast biography lists her among its recurring performers |
| Impastor (TV Land) | Lead | Dora Winston | 2015–2016 |
| A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix) | Not stated | School librarian | 2017–2019, per Hallmark’s career biography |
| American Housewife | Not stated | Role not stated | Listed in Hallmark’s career biography; dates not stated |
| B Positive (ABC) | Series regular | Julia | Dates not stated; described as recent in a May 10, 2024 Deadline report |
| The Rookie | Recurring | Role not stated | Recently reprised, according to the May 10, 2024 Deadline report |
The pattern across these credits is a move from guest and recurring parts toward larger roles. Impastor gave her a lead part, and B Positive a series-regular one. Hallmark’s biography is a current page, but it is not a dated, complete filmography, so any gap in the table reflects missing detail in the sources rather than a gap in her career.
What Rue said about the work in 2015
In a 2015 AMA, Rue answered a question about The Big Bang Theory by saying: “So fun! Jim Parsons has become a very good friend of mine. I feel really lucky to have been a part of a little piece of TV history. That show is so huge, and all the people in the cast were really wonderful to work with.”

The same interview covered her current projects. She said: “I’ve been working a little bit on Chuck Lorre’s new show Mom, and that’s equally as exciting.” She also described Impastor as one of her favorite roles, calling it a dark, unusual comedy with a procedural element.
What the 2024 update does and does not settle
The most recent dated career report available is Deadline’s May 10, 2024 update. It reported two things: that Rue had recently reprised her recurring role on The Rookie, and that she had signed with Alchemy Entertainment for management. Read it with these limits in mind:
Rank #2
- It is a 2024 report. It does not establish what Rue worked on in 2025 or 2026.
- The management signing is the latest representation news on record. It does not confirm her current representation.
- A 2024 credit does not make it her most recent role.
To check for newer work, look at Rue’s current credits on IMDb and in recent trade reporting, and confirm each date against the project’s own listing.
