A missing Liked Music playlist does not, by itself, prove that your songs were deleted. First check Library → Playlists → Liked Music in the correct Google account. Then check Library → Songs, Recent activity, and YouTube Music in a desktop browser. A missing playlist, missing individual tracks, unavailable songs, and lost downloads are different problems and need different fixes.
Find the Liked Music playlist again
Google says music you like is collected in a playlist called Liked Music. Liked songs and albums can also appear in the Songs section of your library. In the current YouTube Music interface:
- Open YouTube Music.
- Choose Library.
- Make sure you are viewing the main YouTube Music library, rather than Downloads, Uploads, or Device files.
- Open Playlists.
- Select Liked Music.
On desktop, use the Library or playlist area in the sidebar. Labels and placement can vary by device and app version, but the important distinction is between the Library and the Home screen. A playlist card can disappear from Home without the underlying playlist being gone.

If Liked Music is not listed
Work through these checks before rebuilding your collection or repeatedly liking songs.
1. Check Library → Songs
The playlist view and the Songs view are not identical. Google says liked songs and albums may also be found under Library → Songs. If the playlist card is missing but the tracks appear there, the problem may be limited to playlist visibility or synchronization.
2. Check Recent activity
Some users have found the playlist through Library → Recent activity after it stopped appearing on the Home screen. This is community guidance, not a guaranteed Google recovery method, but it is a low-risk place to look.

3. Verify the Google account and channel
Check the profile picture and email address, then confirm whether you are using a personal channel or a Brand Account. If you have several Google accounts signed in, YouTube Music may be showing a different library from the one containing your likes.
Use the same account when testing on your phone, browser, television, game console, or Android Auto. Do not delete or recreate anything until this check is complete. Google’s general YouTube Music troubleshooting guidance also recommends confirming the account associated with the service.

4. Test another interface
Open YouTube Music in a desktop browser or on another device.

- Visible on the web but not in the app: an app cache, sync, or interface problem is more likely.
- Missing everywhere: an account, playlist-state, catalog, or service-side problem is more plausible.
- Visible but greyed out: the playlist exists, but one or more catalog items may no longer be available.
- Different counts: take screenshots before changing the playlist.
5. Consider supervised-account restrictions
Some YouTube Music features are unavailable on supervised accounts. If this is a child or supervised profile, missing controls or library behavior may be a restriction rather than a data-loss problem. See Google’s feature guidance for supervised accounts.
Liked Music, Songs, saved music, and Downloads are different
These labels are easy to confuse:
- Liked Music: the playlist generated from music you marked with Like.
- Songs: a Library category that can contain liked songs and other music saved to your library.
- Save to library: a separate action from pressing Like.
- Downloads: local offline copies stored on a device, not the definitive record of your online likes.
- YouTube likes: likes made on ordinary YouTube videos, which may include non-music content and should not be assumed to form a clean music-only collection.
Google states that liking music adds it to Liked Music, while saving is separate. Unliking a song does not automatically remove it from the library. This is why a track can remain in Songs even after its Like is removed, or appear in a library view without being part of the expected Liked Music list.
When only some liked songs have disappeared
A playlist that opens but is incomplete is a different case from a playlist that cannot be found. Users have reported mismatches between playlist counts and the songs displayed or playable, but Google has not published one definitive explanation or universal fix for every such report.
Possible explanations include:
- A temporary synchronization or display problem.
- The playlist being viewed under the wrong account or channel.
- A YouTube video or release being removed, made private, region-restricted, replaced, or otherwise changed.
- A catalog version changing so the original item is no longer available in the same form.
These are possibilities, not a confirmed diagnosis for every missing track. If the playlist count is larger than the visible list, document the discrepancy with screenshots and test both the playlist and Library → Songs. Community reports document the symptom, but do not establish a single platform-wide cause: see the reports about playlist counts and missing entries and missing albums and songs.
If the playlist is empty
An empty playlist can result from the wrong account, a temporary synchronization failure, a library filter, or a service-side display error. Before adding or removing more music:

- Confirm the account and channel.
- Open YouTube Music in a browser.
- Check Library → Songs.
- Check whether the playlist is empty on every device or only one.
- Record the playlist count and any error messages.
A community response has suggested liking one known song again to see whether Liked Music reappears. You may try this as a diagnostic, but it is not a documented historical-recovery feature. It may refresh the view without restoring older entries.
Fix a problem limited to the app
Google’s general troubleshooting sequence is:
- Close and reopen YouTube Music.
- Restart the device.
- Install any available app update.
- Check the internet connection.
- Clear the app cache.
- If necessary, uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Sign in again with the correct account.
Clearing a cache or reinstalling is intended to address local app problems; it is not a guaranteed repair for cloud library data. Reinstallation can also remove local downloads from the device, even when online likes remain associated with the account. Do not treat missing downloads as proof that your likes were deleted.
Downloads are separate from online likes
If music disappeared only from offline playback, check Library → Downloads. Downloads are device-local copies and can be affected by app data removal, device storage changes, or the need to reconnect periodically. Google explains download behavior in its YouTube Music downloads help page.

Can permanently missing likes be restored?
There is no verified universal Google button that restores every missing historical Like. In particular:
- Reinstalling the app is not documented as a cloud-library recovery method.
- YouTube Music Premium provides listening benefits and downloads, but is not documented as a way to restore missing likes.
- Creating a new playlist does not automatically reconstruct the old Liked Music history.
- Google’s direct playlist-copy feature excludes Liked Music playlists.
- Third-party transfer services may help with ordinary playlists, but should not be treated as guaranteed recovery tools for historical likes.
Google’s playlist-transfer documentation specifically says Liked Music playlists are not copied through its direct transfer process. Google also describes third-party transfer services and their limitations in its YouTube Music help documentation.

If the playlist is missing across devices after the account, browser, and troubleshooting checks, contact YouTube support or use the YouTube Music Help community. Include:
- The approximate date the problem began.
- Your device, operating system, and YouTube Music app version.
- Whether all songs or only some are affected.
- Screenshots of the playlist and counts.
- Whether the playlist appears in a desktop browser.
- The exact error message, if any.

Likes are convenient, but they are a poor sole backup for a large collection. Create a normal private playlist—such as My Music Backup—and add important tracks to it as well as liking them. Ordinary playlists are easier to copy or transfer than the automatic Liked Music playlist.
For music you own, YouTube Music also supports uploads, although uploaded music has separate limitations and is not automatically available to other users. See Google’s guidance on creating playlists and uploading personal music.
Transfer services such as Soundiiz or TuneMyMusic may be useful for a manually maintained playlist, but they are optional and are not a dependable solution for recovering every historical Like. YouTube Music Premium is similarly useful for ad-free listening, background play, and downloads—not as a repair mechanism for missing library data.

Why did my Liked Music playlist disappear?
A missing Home-screen card does not prove deletion. Check Library → Playlists, the correct YouTube Music library filter, your Google account and channel, and the playlist on the web.

Why are my liked songs missing only from Android Auto or my TV?
Those interfaces may expose fewer library controls. Verify the collection in the full YouTube Music app or a desktop browser before assuming the songs are gone.
Does YouTube Music delete old likes?
The supplied Google documentation does not establish a universal automatic deletion rule or a confirmed Like limit. Missing items should be diagnosed through account, catalog, synchronization, and availability checks.
Will YouTube Music Premium restore missing likes?
No recovery benefit is documented. Premium adds features such as downloads and background playback, but it is not a solution for missing Liked Music data.
Can Google Takeout back up Liked Music?
Google’s direct playlist-copy documentation excludes Liked Music playlists, so do not rely on that feature as a backup of historical likes.
What is the safest replacement for Liked Music?
Create a normal private playlist containing important tracks, and maintain it alongside your Likes. Ordinary playlists are more practical to copy or transfer.
Why are some liked songs greyed out?
The playlist may still exist while an individual catalog item has become unavailable, changed version, or is restricted in your region or account context.
