Why Miranda was missing is disputed
Miranda does not appear in the final produced stretch of Lizzie McGuire episodes or in The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Accounts of the real-world reason differ. Univision cites scheduling conflicts, Radio Disney touring, and filming You Wish!. Other retrospectives describe outside commitments, including music work. A later account, based on Ashley Spencer’s 2024 book about Disney Channel, attributes the departure to a falling-out with Hilary Duff. A 2015 explanation attributed to Lalaine pointed to outside work commitments. The accounts do not establish one uncontested explanation.
The movie gives a separate, in-story reason: Miranda is away with her family. That plot detail explains the character’s absence within the film, not the production circumstances behind it.

She remained connected to the show’s history
In 2015, Lalaine joined Hilary Duff and Jake Thomas for a cast reunion documented by TIME. It was a reunion appearance, not evidence of a return to the franchise or a role in a revival.
