Jacob Roloff left Little People, Big World in 2016 at age 18. He said he did not want to keep playing a television-created version of himself or his family. Years later, he built a quieter life with his wife, Isabel, their son Matteo, and farm work in Oregon—while maintaining clear boundaries around privacy and television.
Jacob Roloff left Little People, Big World in 2016, when he was 18, and he did not leave with plans to return. His public explanation was that the family viewers saw on television did not feel like his real family and that he did not want to keep performing a manufactured “Roloff character.” Earlier reporting also placed his decision in the context of concerns about the production process and about being filmed throughout childhood.
Jacob’s life after the show has been markedly different from his childhood television identity. He married Isabel in 2019, became a father to Matteo in 2021, and, according to a July 2026 interview, returned to Roloff Farms in Oregon. There, he said he and his cousin Max help manage roughly 70 acres, grow pumpkins, and care for animals.
Jacob Roloff’s time on Little People, Big World
Jacob was the youngest child of Matt and Amy Roloff. He appeared with his parents and siblings—twins Jeremy and Zach, and older sister Molly—when Little People, Big World launched in 2006. The series followed the Roloff family’s home life and work at their Oregon property, later known as Roloff Farms.

Jacob remained part of the program through his teenage years. That meant his childhood, family conflicts, milestones, and ordinary routines were recorded for a large television audience. He was approximately 10 when the series began and 18 when he left, a distinction that matters when considering his later comments about consent, identity, and privacy.
Why did Jacob leave the show?
In 2016, Jacob publicly rejected the expectation that he would return to the series. His explanation focused on authenticity rather than on a single family disagreement.
Jacob said the family presented on the program was not his actual family and that he did not want to continue playing a television character. In his view, the show had created a version of the Roloffs that was shaped for an audience rather than a complete representation of their private lives.
That is Jacob’s account of his experience. It should not be expanded into the unsupported claim that every storyline was fabricated. Reality television can involve real people and real events while still being shaped by editing, production decisions, selected scenes, and the expectations of a continuing series.

Those concerns help explain why “he simply wanted privacy” is an incomplete summary. His stated objection was broader: he did not want his identity and family relationships continually converted into television material.

Jacob’s allegation about a former producer
In 2020, Jacob alleged that Chris Cardamone, a former producer associated with the show, molested him during the period from 2007 to 2010. This is Jacob’s public allegation, not an adjudicated finding presented here as established fact. Cardamone did not respond to the cited report. TLC said it had only then learned of the alleged encounter, called the allegation serious, and said it would cooperate with authorities.

The allegation adds important context to Jacob’s later rejection of the production environment and his insistence on privacy. It should nevertheless be discussed carefully:
- It should be attributed to Jacob as an allegation.
- It should not be described as a proven legal conclusion unless a reliable source establishes one.
- There is no basis here for saying the alleged conduct occurred at Roloff Farms.
- There is no basis for blaming Jacob’s family for the alleged abuse.
The relevant point is not to use a traumatic allegation as a sensational explanation for Jacob’s departure. Rather, it is part of the context for understanding why a former child performer might later set strict limits around television exposure and his own child’s public image.

What is Jacob Roloff doing now?
The most current detailed account in the research is a July 9, 2026, PEOPLE interview republished by AOL. It reported that Jacob and Isabel had returned to Roloff Farms, where they live in a double-wide formerly used by his father.
Jacob said he and his cousin Max manage approximately 70 acres. Their work includes growing pumpkins and caring for animals. Isabel described growing flowers and helping with the animals as well. This does not mean Jacob owns Roloff Farms: the reporting supports that he helps manage land there, not that he holds ownership of the property.
Their life at the farm is connected to the place viewers know from television, but it is not the same thing as returning to the show. Jacob’s reported work is agricultural and family-oriented, while the series turned the property and the Roloffs’ lives into entertainment.
Jacob, Isabel, and their decision to protect Matteo’s privacy
Jacob and Isabel have shared selected updates about marriage, parenthood, and farm life, but they have chosen not to show Matteo’s face online. They have explained that the decision reflects concerns about oversharing children and about how difficult it can be to regain control once a child’s image has been distributed publicly.

That boundary creates a clear through-line in Jacob’s story. He spent his childhood being seen by an audience before he could make an informed adult decision about that exposure. As a parent, he and Isabel are deliberately choosing not to repeat that arrangement with Matteo.
This is an interpretation of their stated reasoning, not a clinical or legal conclusion. It is also not evidence that Jacob has rejected every connection to his family or to the farm. It shows that he and Isabel have drawn a specific line around their son’s public exposure.
Is Jacob Roloff estranged from his family?
“Estranged” is too simple a description based on the latest reported interview.
Jacob said he remains closest to his twin brother, Jeremy, partly because they live near one another and their children spend time together. He also said Amy babysits Matteo occasionally. Isabel described the wider family as being in a better place and said relatives try to preserve relationships for the children and cousins despite disagreements from the past.

A more accurate summary is that Jacob has maintained family relationships while keeping firm boundaries around television and his son’s exposure. Those relationships do not require him to return to the program or accept the public version of his family that he previously rejected.
Is Little People, Big World still available to watch?
Yes. TLC continues to maintain official pages for the series, including Season 25 episode listings, and Prime Video’s series listing identifies Little People, Big World as a 2006 reality series with 25 seasons and Jacob among the cast.

The short answer
Jacob Roloff left Little People, Big World in 2016 at 18 because he rejected the television-created version of his family and did not want to continue as a constructed character. He later spoke publicly about concerns related to the production environment and made a serious allegation about a former producer, which must be treated as an allegation rather than an adjudicated fact.
By the latest detailed report, Jacob was living with Isabel and their son at Roloff Farms, helping manage farmland, grow pumpkins, and care for animals. He remains connected to members of his family, but he and Isabel maintain strong privacy boundaries around Matteo. In other words, Jacob did not disappear from the Roloff story; he stepped away from the television identity that made him famous and built a more private life on his own terms.
