Guard Llama, a mobile personal-safety system that pitched on Shark Tank in 2017, is listed as out of business by current company-tracking pages. The sources available do not establish the exact closure date, the reason it stopped operating, or whether Barbara Corcoran’s offer became a completed investment.
What Guard Llama was
In an April 17, 2017 press release, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) described Guard Llama as a “mobile personal security system” that “expedites the 9-1-1 dispatching process when dialing 9-1-1 is not possible.” The purpose was speed in an emergency: a user who could not place a 911 call could still trigger a faster response.
A current company listing describes the offering as a remote that activates a personal emergency service. Beyond that description, the sources reviewed do not establish the device’s technical specifications, service coverage areas, subscription terms, or whether any of its functions worked at the end of its life.
The Shark Tank pitch and the offer
ABC’s official roster of companies that appeared on Shark Tank lists Guard Llama, which places the pitch on the show. The roster does not print a season number beside the entry in the sources reviewed, so the “Season 8” label in the title reflects the commonly used reference for the 2017 airing rather than a detail those sources confirm. ABC’s roster also states that appearing on the show does not imply endorsement by ABC, the Sharks, or the producers.

Did the Corcoran deal close?
The sources do not agree, and none of them settles the question with company records. One secondary account, Sharkary, reports that the deal fell through during due diligence and that the founder passed on the terms. Other business-update pages describe a deal as having been made. Neither claim is backed by a company announcement or primary reporting in the sources reviewed, so the televised offer should be described as an offer, not as a completed investment.
Is Guard Llama still operating?
The clearest current status is that Guard Llama is no longer operating. Shark Tank Companies lists the business as out of business, with no website and no Amazon presence. Sharkary also says the company shut down, but its account of what led to the closure is not corroborated by primary reporting or company records.

No currently supported Guard Llama device, replacement part, or compatible accessory was identified, and readers should not assume that generic personal-safety products connect to the former service.
The NAR and REach connection
Guard Llama had an earlier link to NAR’s REach real estate technology accelerator. The NAR release says the company was a 2015 REach participant and that Second Century Ventures, NAR’s strategic investment arm, announced its addition to the program. That establishes an earlier organizational relationship only. It does not show that NAR backed or operated the company after the show, or after it closed.

Realtor safety figures in context
The NAR release cited two statistics from its 2016 Member Safety Report, which is the report the figures come from:
- 95% of Realtors had never been the victim of crime.
- 39% of Realtors had found themselves in situations where they feared for their safety or the safety of their personal information.
Both figures describe NAR members in that report. They are not general-population statistics and should not be read as broader crime data.

They describe the offer’s reception, not the company’s later performance.
