Spoilers through Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk’s stories continued after the original Daredevil series: both appeared in other Marvel projects before Daredevil: Born Again brought them back into conflict. By Season 2, Fisk is mayor of New York and has outlawed vigilantism, while Matt leads resistance from the shadows. Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, Bullseye, Jessica Jones, and Frank Castle have all had consequential updates, too.
Where Matt Murdock and Kingpin are now
Daredevil: Born Again continues the stories of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. In Season 1, Matt returns to practicing law and tries to pursue justice without the mask, while Fisk seeks political power in New York. Season 2 shifts the conflict into a city hall crackdown: Fisk is mayor and makes outlawing vigilantism his first act, forcing Matt to fight back from the shadows. Disney+’s Season 2 guide and The Walt Disney Company’s season coverage describe that confrontation.
Their screen stories did not pause between the original series and Born Again. Disney’s character guide lists Matt in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Echo, and Spider-Man: No Way Home; Fisk appears in Hawkeye and Echo. Matt also appeared in The Defenders. These are confirmed appearances, not a complete official chronology of every character’s in-universe events.
Character-by-character updates
| Character | Between the original show and Born Again | Born Again status |
|---|---|---|
| Matt Murdock / Daredevil | She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Echo, and Spider-Man: No Way Home; also appeared in The Defenders. | In Season 1, he returns to his legal practice. In Season 2, he leads resistance against Mayor Fisk from the shadows. |
| Wilson Fisk / Kingpin and Vanessa Fisk | Fisk appears in Hawkeye and Echo. | Fisk is mayor and outlaws vigilantism. Vanessa manipulates Bullseye into killing Foggy, according to Disney’s Season 2 guide. |
| Karen Page | The reviewed guide does not list an intervening appearance. | She returns in Season 1 and, in Season 2, stands with Daredevil and leads a resistance spy network against Fisk’s administration. |
| Foggy Nelson | The reviewed guide does not list an intervening appearance. | He returns in Season 1. Vanessa manipulates Bullseye into killing him; the reviewed Season 2 guide does not list Foggy as an active Season 2 character. |
| Benjamin Poindexter / Bullseye | The reviewed guide does not list an intervening appearance. | Disney describes Poindexter as a former FBI agent and Bullseye as an assassin. After Vanessa manipulates him into killing Foggy, he recognizes that the Fisks cannot be trusted. |
| Jessica Jones | The reviewed guide does not list an intervening appearance. | Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica, a private investigator behind Alias Investigations. |
| Frank Castle / The Punisher | Disney’s 2025 overview includes Frank among familiar faces in Born Again. | He does not appear in Season 2. His story continues separately in the special The Punisher: One Last Kill. |
The character updates and intervening appearances above are listed in Disney’s official character guide and its Season 2 coverage. The guides establish these roles and appearances; they should not be read as confirmation that every character from the Defenders-era shows returns.

What changes in Born Again Season 2
Fisk turns political power into a crackdown
Fisk’s mayoralty makes the season’s conflict overtly political. His ban targets vigilantes, and Matt’s resistance is no longer only a private struggle between two men: Karen helps organize opposition through a spy network. Showrunner Dario Scardapane described the season’s character choices as decisions about which side to take, with a price attached to each choice, in an interview published by The Walt Disney Company on 23 March 2026.
Bullseye’s loyalties shift
Bullseye’s return is tied directly to Foggy’s death. Disney’s guide says Vanessa manipulated him into killing Foggy; afterward, he understands that the Fisks cannot be trusted. That does not make him an ally of Daredevil—the guide establishes his changed view of the Fisks, not a settled partnership with Matt.

Jessica Jones returns; Frank Castle has a separate story
Jessica’s return brings another familiar Defenders-era character into Season 2, but it does not establish that the entire former ensemble is back. Frank’s absence is explicit in Disney’s guide: he is not in Season 2. The Punisher: One Last Kill, which premiered on 12 May 2026, is a separate special continuing Frank’s story, not a Born Again episode.
