Amy Lynn Bradley has not been found, and Netflix did not solve her disappearance. The three-part documentary Amy Bradley Is Missing, released in July 2025, renewed public attention around the case, revisited reported sightings and competing theories, and generated new tips. But as of August 11, 2026, the FBI still lists Bradley as missing and has announced no confirmed recovery, arrest, perpetrator identification, or resolution.
For viewers who want to watch Amy Bradley Is Missing on Netflix, the most important point is also the easiest to lose amid the documentary’s revelations: renewed attention is not the same as verified evidence.
The short answer: the case remains unresolved
Amy Lynn Bradley disappeared during a Royal Caribbean cruise in March 1998. No publicly confirmed account explains whether she fell overboard, left voluntarily, or was abducted. Reported sightings—including claims that she was seen alive in Curaçao and elsewhere—have kept the case active in the public imagination, but none has been publicly authenticated as proof that Bradley survived or was trafficked.
Netflix’s series reexamines the evidence and the Bradley family’s decades-long search. It does not establish what happened to Amy. The word “reopens” in the title is therefore best understood as a description of renewed media and public interest, not a formal announcement that the FBI has reopened the investigation in a legal or procedural sense.

Who was Amy Bradley?
Bradley was 23 when she disappeared from Rhapsody of the Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean International. The FBI’s public listing describes her as 5 feet 6 inches tall and approximately 120 pounds, with short brown hair and green eyes.
Her identifying marks include:
- A Tasmanian Devil holding a basketball tattoo on her shoulder
- A sun tattoo on her lower back
- A Chinese symbol tattoo on her right ankle
- A gecko tattoo near her navel
- A navel ring
These details remain important because later reports have involved people who believed they recognized Bradley. A resemblance, tattoo, photograph, or witness recollection may generate an investigative lead, but it does not by itself establish identity.
The last-known timeline
The basic chronology is drawn primarily from the FBI’s public case information and Netflix’s account of the family’s recollections. Some details about Bradley’s final hours have been disputed or remembered differently by different participants, so the timeline should not be treated as a complete reconstruction.
| Date | What is reported |
|---|---|
| March 21, 1998 | Rhapsody of the Seas departed San Juan, Puerto Rico, beginning the Bradley family’s Caribbean cruise. |
| March 23, 1998 | The ship departed Aruba for Curaçao. Netflix’s account says Bradley spent the evening dancing in the ship’s nightclub and was later seen resting on the balcony of the family’s cabin. |
| Early morning, March 24, 1998 | Bradley was discovered missing while the vessel was traveling toward Curaçao in international waters, according to the FBI. |
| March 24, 1998 | Searches followed. Netflix’s official synopsis says the ship reached Curaçao, where passengers could enter the port, and that the inquiry expanded to the FBI and local authorities. Bradley was not found. |
| March 28, 1998 | The cruise returned to San Juan after continuing through Curaçao, Sint Maarten, and St. Thomas. |
The central uncertainty begins with the transition from the balcony-and-cabin account to Bradley’s discovery as missing. Publicly available material does not provide a universally accepted explanation for what happened during that period. That gap is why both an accidental fall and criminal explanations continue to appear in coverage.
What the Netflix documentary covers
Amy Bradley Is Missing is a three-part documentary series directed and executive-produced by Ari Mark and Phil Lott of Ample Entertainment. Netflix presents it as an examination of the disappearance, the family’s continuing search, reported sightings, and the unresolved question of whether Bradley’s disappearance was accidental or criminal.

According to Netflix’s official materials and contemporary coverage, the series includes:
- The Bradley family’s account of the cruise and the search that followed
- The history of the cold case and efforts to keep it in the public eye
- Reported sightings in Curaçao and other locations over the years
- Interviews with family members, FBI officials connected with the case, and people who believe they saw Bradley alive
- The competing accident, voluntary-departure, abduction, and trafficking theories
The documentary’s contribution is primarily investigative and contextual. It brings old evidence, witness accounts, and new claims together for a large audience. It is not an official finding by the FBI, a court determination, or proof that any one theory is correct.
The main theories—and what the evidence does not prove
Several explanations have been discussed for decades. They should be kept separate because the existence of a theory is not evidence that the theory occurred.
Recommended Free Tools
| Theory | Why it remains part of the discussion | What has not been established |
|---|---|---|
| Accidental fall overboard | Bradley vanished while the ship was underway, and no body was recovered. An accident is therefore one possible explanation for a disappearance at sea. | The public record cited for this article does not establish that Bradley fell overboard. No confirmed location, physical evidence, or official finding has resolved the question. |
| Voluntary departure | Some accounts have considered whether Bradley left the ship or later moved through a port area voluntarily. | The FBI’s public material does not endorse this explanation, and Netflix does not resolve whether she left by choice. |
| Abduction | Reported sightings and witness accounts have led some people to believe Bradley may have been taken from the ship or held elsewhere. | No publicly confirmed evidence identifies an abductor or establishes the circumstances of an abduction. |
| Trafficking | The documentary revisits claims that Bradley may have been forced into sex trafficking after her disappearance. | Trafficking has not been publicly proved. The FBI listing confirms that Bradley remains missing and seeks information; it does not state that trafficking has been established. |
The Bill Hefner account
One of the most discussed claims comes from Bill Hefner, who reported encountering a woman in Curaçao who identified herself as Amy Bradley and said she was being held against her will. The account is relevant because it is one of the reasons the possibility that Bradley survived has persisted.
It remains a witness account, however. Public reporting does not independently establish that the woman was Bradley, that the encounter occurred exactly as described, or that trafficking took place. The responsible description is “a reported sighting” or “an alleged account,” not proof that Bradley was trafficked.

Reported sightings, photographs, and “Jas”
Possible sightings have been central to the Bradley family’s search and to the documentary’s narrative. Netflix says the series examines alleged sightings in multiple locations over the years. Other coverage discusses photographs of a woman known as “Jas,” alleged sightings in Curaçao, visits to websites related to Bradley, and the possibility that she lived under another identity.
Those claims remain disputed leads. The FBI has not publicly confirmed through the material cited here that the photographs are authentic images of Bradley, that “Jas” is Bradley, or that website traffic proves anything about her whereabouts. A photograph can be misidentified, a website visit can have multiple explanations, and a witness can be sincere while still being mistaken.

Public reporting contains disagreements about the chronology of Bradley’s final hours, the interpretation of the balcony and cabin account, and how much weight should be assigned to individual sightings. Family members, witnesses, filmmakers, and investigators may describe the same event differently or emphasize different pieces of evidence.
That does not mean every account has equal evidentiary value. It means disputed details should be attributed to the person or source making the claim. Statements such as “a family member recalled,” “a witness reported,” or “the documentary presents” are more accurate than turning a contested recollection into an established fact.
What happened after Netflix’s release?
The July 2025 release produced a significant increase in public attention. Family representatives reported a surge of tips and renewed leads. Brad Bradley and other participants discussed information that came in after the series, while director Ari Mark later spoke about continuing investigative work and possible developments.

- Identify the source. Is it an eyewitness, a family member, a journalist, a filmmaker, an investigator, or an anonymous online post?
- Separate observation from conclusion. “I saw a woman who resembled Bradley” is not the same as “Bradley was alive in Curaçao.”
- Look for corroboration. Independent witnesses, dated records, photographs with verifiable provenance, travel documentation, or other evidence carry more weight than repeated versions of the same rumor.
- Check whether authorities have confirmed it. Media attention, documentary interviews, and family belief are not equivalent to an official identification.
- Be cautious with apparent digital evidence. Website visits, social-media matches, and photographs can be meaningful leads, but they require authentication and context.
- Do not publish an unverified identity as fact. Misidentifying a living person can cause serious harm and can distract from the search for Bradley.

Sources and reporting context
The factual baseline in this article comes from the FBI’s public wanted-person listing for Amy Lynn Bradley and Netflix’s official synopsis and Tudum coverage of Amy Bradley Is Missing. Details about interviews, reported sightings, and post-release developments are attributed to contemporary media coverage, including reporting that discusses the family’s account, FBI-connected participants, witnesses, and the filmmakers.
Where the public record remains inconclusive, this article uses “reported sighting,” “alleged lead,” and “investigative theory” rather than presenting an unverified claim as fact.
