Did Beyoncé get a No. 1 country song?
Yes. On Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart dated February 24, 2024, “Texas Hold ’Em” debuted at No. 1. “16 Carriages,” released alongside it, debuted at No. 9. Billboard describes Hot Country Songs as a chart based on streaming, airplay, and sales—not a country-airplay-only ranking.

Billboard’s report attributed the chart-week figures to Luminate: through February 15, 2024, “Texas Hold ’Em” had 19.2 million official streams, 4.8 million in all-format airplay audience, and 39,000 U.S. sales. These are historical measurements for that chart week, not current totals.
Why was the chart debut a milestone?
The Associated Press described Beyoncé as the first Black woman to claim the top spot on Billboard’s country music chart. Billboard reported a more specific chart-history distinction: she was the first woman to lead both Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since those lists began as all-encompassing genre song charts in October 1958. Those descriptions refer to Billboard chart rankings and should not be confused with a country-airplay-only chart.
