For the U.S. edition’s Season 28, winner Rick Devens received the stated $750,000 grand prize, while runner-up Taylor Brown received $75,000. Those are announced prize amounts, not estimates of what either person keeps after taxes.
What the Big Brother Season 28 winner received
At the October 1, 2026 finale, Rick Devens won the U.S. edition’s Season 28 grand prize of $750,000. Paramount’s official finale release also says runner-up Taylor Brown received $75,000. Read Paramount’s Season 28 finale announcement.
The season’s official winner page reports that Devens won the jury vote 6–1. CBS describes the show’s prize as going to the last remaining HouseGuest. See the Big Brother Season 28 winner page on Paramount+.
Does the winner keep the full $750,000?
Not necessarily. The $750,000 is the announced prize, not a guaranteed after-tax payout. IRS Publication 525 for tax year 2025 says a prize won in a television or radio quiz program or another event must be included in income; prizes awarded as goods or services are generally included at fair market value. See IRS Publication 525.

That tax guidance does not establish Devens’s personal tax bill or net proceeds. Those depend on individual circumstances and applicable tax rules, so a fixed “take-home” figure would be speculation.
Prize amounts vary by season and edition
The current U.S. Season 28 prize is not a safe assumption for every season or country. CBS’s official Season 19 listing described that season’s grand prize as $500,000, illustrating that the amount can change over time. Check CBS’s official Big Brother listings.

| Edition and season | Announced prize | What the amount represents |
|---|---|---|
| U.S., Season 28 (2026) | $750,000 grand prize; $75,000 for runner-up | Paramount’s official finale release identifies both awards. |
| U.S., Season 19 | $500,000 grand prize | CBS’s official season listing; the page does not state a publication year. |
| Canada, Season 12 (2024) | $200,000 in cash and prizes | A combined package, not $200,000 in cash. |
Big Brother Canada’s Season 12 finale alert described winner Bayleigh’s package as $200,000 in cash and prizes. It listed $10,000 cash, sponsor cash awards, a Samsung Galaxy prize pack and an Endy award, as well as clothing, groceries, a year of Skip, a vacation and an Infiniti QX60 SUV. The announcement also assigned $10,000 values to the Samsung Galaxy prize pack and Endy award; those stated values do not make the items cash. See Big Brother Canada’s official site.
