Johnny Lawrence and Miguel Diaz do team up in Cobra Kai Season 6: in the finale, Johnny becomes Miguel’s sensei for Cobra Kai’s place in the Sekai Taikai boys’ final, and Miguel wins the title. The available official descriptions establish the trailer’s tournament setting, but do not identify a particular newly revealed shot of the pair together. Netflix announced the season’s three-part release; its finale recap confirms how the story resolves.
What the Johnny and Miguel team-up means
The clearest confirmed team-up is a mentorship and tournament partnership in the finale—not simply a hint that the two appear together in a promotional clip. After Samantha chooses not to fight and Miyagi-Do is eliminated from contention, Kreese gives Cobra Kai’s boys’ final place, previously held by Kwon, to Miguel. Johnny steps in as Miguel’s sensei.
Miguel faces Axel and wins the boys’ title. The tournament’s overall team score then ends in a tie between Iron Dragons and Cobra Kai, setting up a separate final bout between the dojos’ senseis: Johnny and Sensei Wolf.
What the Season 6 trailer established
Netflix’s Part 2 trailer announcement framed the Sekai Taikai as the setting for new challenges and old enemies, with rivalries inside Miyagi-Do resurfacing. Part 2 debuted on November 15, 2024. That official description supplies the tournament context, but it does not identify a Johnny-and-Miguel scene or a specific shot of them teaming up.

The Miguel partnership is part of Johnny’s larger arc: he returns to the tournament mats with Daniel after the two have worked through their conflict. In Netflix’s finale recap, co-creator Jon Hurwitz described the aim this way: “I don’t think we knew from the beginning that Johnny would be a world champion, but we knew we wanted him to exorcise those demons from 1984 and [get] back on those red mats in the All Valley Sports Arena with a giant victory that felt pure, with Daniel and him having worked through their issues.”
