MLB Network does not have one channel number for every Optimum customer. The number depends on your service area, TV package and platform. Enter your ZIP code in Optimum’s local TV lineup or MLB Network’s channel locator, then check the HD listing and confirm your package includes the channel.
How to find MLB Network on your Optimum lineup
- Check Optimum’s lineup: Open Optimum’s TV page, provide your location when prompted, and review the lineup for your area and package. Search for “MLB Network” and note the HD channel number if one is listed.
- Use MLB Network’s locator: Visit the MLB Network customer-service FAQ, open its channel locator, enter your ZIP code and select Optimum if it appears. Compare the SD and HD listings.
- Check your account: A channel’s presence in a lineup does not prove it is included in your particular subscription. Verify your package and any sports add-ons in your Optimum account.
Older official listings illustrate why a ZIP-code check matters: one listing showed channel 222 in certain New York and Connecticut markets, while a 2021 Optimum lineup for Sparta, New Jersey, listed channel 118 and HD channel 518. These are dated examples, not dependable current numbers for every household. See the historical New York and Connecticut listing and the 2021 Sparta lineup PDF.
Why the number can differ
Optimum’s systems and channel lineups vary by market, and a number in one town may not apply in another. SD and HD versions can also have different numbers, so look for the HD designation rather than assuming the SD channel is the one to watch.

Is MLB Network included with Optimum?
Not necessarily in every plan. Optimum currently lists MLB Network among its sports offerings, but availability and package terms can depend on location and subscription. Check the local package comparison and your account to find out whether the channel is part of your base TV lineup or requires a sports package or different tier. Do not rely on an older package name as a guarantee of current eligibility.
If you see MLB Network in the lineup but receive a “not subscribed” message, the listing may describe a channel available in your area rather than one authorized on your account. A promotional inclusion or preview may also have ended. Ask Optimum whether MLB Network is authorized on your account and whether a package change is required; confirm any cost and terms before changing plans.

If MLB Network is missing or unavailable
- Recheck the channel using your ZIP code and make sure you are viewing the correct service-area lineup.
- Confirm your package and sports add-ons include MLB Network.
- If the channel should be included, restart or refresh your cable box or Optimum Stream device, then check again.
- Make sure your account is active and that there is no known service or authorization issue.
- Contact Optimum and ask specifically whether MLB Network is provisioned on your account. MLB Network also directs viewers with reception or program problems to their video provider.
If the channel works but a particular game does not, the issue may be a broadcast blackout or rights restriction rather than a missing channel. Check the game listing and the applicable blackout rules before treating it as an account problem.

MLB Network offers authenticated live streaming through participating pay-TV providers. If Optimum appears as a provider in the sign-in flow and your package includes MLB Network, try the MLB Network live-watch option on MLB Network’s streaming service or in the MLB app and sign in with your provider credentials. Provider participation and account eligibility should be confirmed in the current sign-in flow; a TV subscription that lacks the channel may not authenticate for it. MLB Network says Strike Zone is not available through its live stream.

Does MLB Network show every MLB game?
No. MLB Network carries studio shows, highlights, analysis, and selected live programming, including regular-season and Spring Training games and special events. It is not a complete live-game package. Regular-season games can be subject to local blackouts; MLB Network’s FAQ says its postseason telecasts have different blackout treatment and are available in the United States and Canada without those blackouts.
Having MLB Network on Optimum does not guarantee access to every game involving your local team. Regional sports networks, national broadcasters, MLB.TV and blackout rules have separate rights. MLB.TV is a separate service to consider for out-of-market games, not a substitute for MLB Network’s channel and studio programming; check its current terms and blackout rules for your location.
